Recent key responsibilities include:

Kazakhstan: Shallow water 3D OBC project. Involved in design, including analyzing previous statistics to determine optimum crew channel count, block overlap design, modeling gun array improvements, development of crew daily reporting database and mentoring local offshore QC staff. Senior offshore QC during production phase.

Oman: Senior QC Involved in managing the QC department on crew during the upgrade to over 10500 live channels for 24-hour production, including replacing Tango with Geocluster seismic processing software. Maintaining data quality during the period of upgrade, including consistency of client Seg-Y data sets between the two platforms was critical. Acquisition technique is predominantly 3D slip-sweep, including the complex Fahud Jebel and first heli-supported (Maradi) survey in Oman.

Alaska: Design and preplan of multiple client surveys during the arctic winter land season 2007/2008. Stake-less acquisition in environmentally sensitive areas required attention to detail during the design phase, integrating survey, environmental and ice-check data to ensure fold coverage and safe access was maintained. The design of a development high-resolution survey situated in an active field involved detailed analysis of fold attributes, while adhering to strict offset limits around existing facilities and pipelines.

Libya: In country QC involved in mobilization and start up of a 2D crew. Worked with Senior Observer and client during the start-up and acceptance test phase to ensure the equipment and acquisition method met specifications. Sole charge QC during production phase.

I am competent and comfortable designing in-field seismic QC and data management workflows and producing error-free data, meeting client specifications. I have experience analyzing vibrator and field instrument results using Testif-I. I am practiced in scripting using the Perl language, performing customized investigations on a variety of data sets. I have experience using Mesa design software and am experienced in generating shooting scripts for Sercel recording instruments. I am comfortable using Unix and Linux platforms and have experience using Tango and Geocluster/Geoland seismic processing packages.

I am used to methodically and carefully interrogating large data volumes to produce error-free data in a variety of formats (Seg-D, Seg-Y, and SPS). This includes producing processed sections of seismic data to brute stack level.

Sep 2002 – May 2004 Staff Geophysicist, iGeo Ltd, Auckland, New Zealand

* As a member of the geophysical team at iGeo Ltd I gained a wide range of experience in geophysical surveying, including seismic and geotechnical monitoring, SASW surveys and down-hole seismic surveys. An outline of my geophysical experience in each of these areas is set out below.

* iGeo consisted of two directors, myself (staff geophysicist), two junior scientists and a number of part time data processing staff. As such, I was responsible for instructing, supervising and training junior staff in addition to receiving instructions from the senior directors of iGeo Ltd.

Seismic and Geotechnical Monitoring Experience

* My geophysical experience at iGeo Ltd primarily included the management and technical support of an intensive remote seismic and geotechnical monitoring system in an underground mine in NSW, Australia. This included the development and installation of distributed systems and the development of software to allow the integration, analysis and management of the seismic and geotechnical data sets from one platform. Involvement in this project formed the basis of my thesis. The development of an integrated management platform for the two data sets is considered a world first in the mining industry.

* My responsibilities whilst at iGeo Ltd included communications with senior mine management and engineers in respect of the monitoring system performance and recorded noteworthy events. I was also responsible for technical support, data management, seismological data processing, quality control and supervision of processing staff. The seismic monitoring system operates on Linux and I am therefore competent in this environment.

* I was primarily concerned with the design, development and installation of the new analysis and management software. This was developed using the LabVIEW graphical programming environment. The majority of the work involved in my thesis was concerned with the analysis of the seismic and geotechnical data collected during the development of the undercut in the block cave mine and included interpretations about the rock mass response based on this data.

* Field experience gained during this project included the installation of seismic and geotechnical monitoring equipment in an active underground mine, often near active development zones. Commissioning of the geotechnical monitoring system represented a new application of current technology. This required significant trouble-shooting and fault-finding ability.

SASW Surveys

* I have conducted numerous SASW surveys in the Auckland region, specifically related to geotechnical engineering applications. The results of these surveys were typically presented as contours of engineering properties (shear modulus and shear wave velocity) as a function of depth along the profile.

Down Hole Seismic Surveys

* Involvement in the data acquisition and processing of down-hole seismic data as part of a wider research experiment in a hard rock mine to determine the effectiveness of hydraulic fracturing as a method of pre-conditioning the rock mass before block caving is initiated.

* In June 2004 iGeo Ltd was bought by Golder Associates, a multinational engineering and geophysical services company.

January – September 2002: Field Technician, Geotek Services, Auckland, New Zealand (Part Time)

* Field work involving borehole logging, mapping and site inspections for medium to large sized residential and light commercial developments.

* Drafting of reports, including complete write up of field results and production of geological cross-sections and borehole logs for senior engineering geologist.

January – February 2001: Field Geophysicist, Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences, Taupo, New Zealand

* While completing my BSc I was employed as a field geophysicist by the Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences (IGNS), a Crown Research Institute. During my employment at IGNS I worked on a major active source study of the boundary between the Australian and Pacific plates, under the central North Island of New Zealand. Responsible for deployment and collection of seismometers.
