The SOW included adding preliminary drainage to insure that drainage swales/gutters are non-sediment/self cleaning; Preliminary designs of storm water disposal and oily water waste treatment systems & sewers. I designed steel pipe racks with drilled caissons and a sleeper-way for the steam lines, piping and cable trays as well as the storm water system including grading, underground collection system and subgrade concrete holding tank per EPA requirements. I strengthened 4 existing buildings for addition of IT equipment by devising unique retrofit structural systems creating steel/concrete and concrete / reinforced plastic composites in CA, OR and WA. These were in UBC Earthquake Zones 3, 4 & 4+. Designed rigid plate girder process skids with drilled caisson foundations in permafrost for the Alaska Pipeline in Earthquake Zones 4 and 4+. Performed site inspections, quality assurance, cost estimating, man-hour estimates for engineering/construction for all work performed. AISC LRFD / ASD Steel Designs were performed and "Critical State" Foundation design.

Author of QGPC's corporate civil and structural specifications. These were based on API offshore and British Standards onshore but incorporated Shell, BP and Mobil specifications. These were modified to suit Qatar's aggressive corrosive salt environment. I responded to questions from contractors, performed contractor design reviews and helped develop man-hour estimates and project budgets. I assisted the project management group by providing technical support, preparing FEED packages, contractor submittal evaluations, individual job specifications, validating structural calculations and plan checking, field inspections for quality assurance.

Civil/Structural Engineer - BASF Corporation, Freeport, Texas, USA 11/20/96-10/17/97
Performed field surveys, site layouts, assisted surveying, researched existing plans and calculations, performed structural analysis/design and supervised CAD and hand drafting on the structural rehabilitation and expansion of an aging plastics, chemicals plant and Port facility at Freeport, Texas. Weather enclosures and safety equipment were retrofit, steel / concrete buildings and process towers were expanded. One new flare tower was designed, two existing flares were reanalyzed for higher hurricane winds and one was guyed for structural stability. The nylon process tower was reanalyzed and the required weld plate strengthening designed. Project work scopes, work schedules, man-hours and cost estimates were generated for all work performed. LRFD & ASD Steel Analysis / Design were performed and Limit State was utilized in reanalyzing all foundations for their ultimate strength under higher loads from equipment and increased hurricane loading.
