* In charge of the routine geotechnical activities at the various mining districts
* Liaise with and provide the basic inputs to the other sectional heads in meeting the set production target for the Mine.
* Attend planning meetings where production windows are discussed
Monitoring:
* Conducts ground condition audit for underground support systems, and support compliance audit through routine underground audits.
* Monitors support cost.
* Conduct fall of ground incident and accident investigations
* Monitors and/or manage seismic network /or mining induces seismicity.
* Waste rock dump stability
* Surface crack mapping and monitoring of cave propagation.
* Reservoir and water management within the catchments of the caving area and the Mufulira stream in order to avert the flooding of the underground workings.
Support Design:
* Design support layout, particularly for Sublevel Open Stope mining in a low dipping orebody, standard and access development.
Mine Design:
* Provides rules for mine development layout, pillar layout, extraction sequence.
* Signs-off development and blast hole layouts.
* Carries out structural mapping and rock mass classification for the design of underground excavations as well as major mining blocks.
* Carries out numerical modeling and stress analysis for the major mining blocks.
Research & Development:
* Test new ground support items and makes recommendations to management.
