Summary of Qualifications
Master's of Science in Geology (candidate fall 2009) and 2.5 years experience: two year Master's thesis on the lithogeochemistry of the Quebrada Blanca copper-molybdenite deposit in northern Chile. Spent a total of 9 months field mapping in remote northern Ontario and across Nova Scotia. Seven months as a production/exploration geologist-in-training.
Objectives
Available to fill the positions of a production/exploration geologist. Interested in position where geological mapping, exploration, petrological and geochemical analyses are the focus, with opportunity to develop skills in 3D modeling. Preference is for fly-in fly-out shift (ideally a maximum of 14 days – 12 hour shifts), but not exclusively.
Education
MSc. Geology, Acadia University (candidate September 2009). Lithogeochemistry of the Quebrada Blanca copper porphyry deposit, Region I, Chile.
BSc. Honours, Earth Sciences, Dalhousie University (2006). Comparison of Late Holocene Oceanographic and Sedimentologic Records from the Amundsen Gulf, Northwest Territories.
Secondary School Honours Graduation Diploma, Sir Wilfrid Laurier Secondary School (2002). Ottawa, Ontario.
Work Experience
Teaching assistant. Acadia University, Wolfville, Nova Scotia.
Assisted mineralogy, optical mineralogy and first year geology undergraduate laboratories. September 2007 – December 2009.
Senior field assistant. Ontario Geological Survey, Hewitt Lake, Ontario. Field work for the Far North Geological Mapping Initiative project. Mapping an Archean greenstone belt and lived in a remote bush camp. Helicopter assistance and daily traverses. Computer programs included: Fieldworker, SpheriStat, and ArcMap. May - September 2007.
Geologist-in-training. Williams Mine (Hemlo), Marathon, Ontario. Diamond-drill core logging from the Hemlo gold deposit of the Archean Schreiber-Hemlo greenstone belt. Other tasks include underground sampling and core photography archiving. October 2006 -May 2007.
Senior field assistant. Ontario Geological Survey, Fry Lake, Ontario.
Field work for the Far North Geological Mapping Initiative project. Mapping the Archean Meen-Dempster greenstone belt on Fry Lake and Bamaji Lake. Lived in a remote bush camp. Helicopter assistance and daily traverses. Computer programs included: Fieldworker, SpheriStat, and ArcMap. May - September 2006.
Field assistant. Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources, Halifax.
Field areas included Carboniferous paleontology at Joggins and the Jurassic North Mountain Basalt, Nova Scotia. Other tasks include cutting rocks, fossil archiving, and sluicing for gold. May - August 2005.
