Dramatically improved mine production. Platinum Group Metals prices fell 70% in 5 months. Restructured Stillwater's operation, optimizing mining areas. Reduced planned production 25%, workforce 51% and rationalized equipment fleet reduction 53%. Lowered production cost per ounce from $655 to $432, a 34% savings.
Bolstered mine operations and safety. Replaced Stillwater manager to improve production and safety. Focused on basic work cycle, paying close attention to fundamentals to ensure safe accomplishment. Hit monthly production targets, exceeding goals by 11% (up from -23%). Lowered MSHA total reportable injury frequency 18%.
Rebuilt team, creating more productive mine. Directed an underperforming Barrick mine. Rebuilt management team, adding five new members. Reinforced standards, expectations, professional development and training. Increased annual revenues by $20 million dollars.
Consolidated mine's mill operations, boosting profits. Production targets were not being met at Homestake Canada Inc. mines. Operated as liaison between contractor performing mine optimization and improvement study and joint venture partners. Reduced worker downtime and lost opportunities 25%, combining for $7M savings.
Earned prestigious safety award for Barrick/Homestake. MSHA reportable injuries were mounting, and base of injury triangle pointed to more serious injuries as imminent. Instituted STOP and Behavior Based Safety programs. Revitalized and expanded 5-Point safety program. Won John T. Ryan safety award three consecutive years.

CAREER HISTORY

Mine Manager, Stillwater Mining Company, 2008 to 2009. Recruited to assume underground and surface site responsibility for safety, cost, and ore production, concentration and shipment for this $850M company. Directed mine and mill optimization when PGM prices dropped. Managed 522 employees and $65M budget.
Owner/Partner, Buck Stop, 2004 to 2008. Seized opportunity in mining market slowdown to open retail store with full line of sporting goods. Started up archery pro shop and increased gross sales 28%.
GM, Eskay Creek Mine for Barrick Gold Corp. (acquired Homestake), 2002 to 2004. Promoted from Mine Manager to site General Manager with full accountability, including safety, production, costs and compliance. Managed 320 employees and contractors to produce 700tpd of ultra-high grade gold and silver ore. Oversaw $100M budget for $1B corporation.
Homestake Mining Company, a multi-billion dollar international company.
Manager-Optimization & Implementation (Canadian Division), 2002. Directed high performance optimization team as liaison with mine optimization contractor, driving operational changes throughout. Managed team of 12.
Production Manager (California), 2001 to 2002. Assigned to complete final phases of production and initiated shutdown of a California mine. Finished ahead of plan without injuries or environmental compliance issues.
Mine Superintendent, (California), 1995 to 2000. Oversaw 100+ group producing 1000 tpd in a drill, blast, muck environment to 8000 feet. Managed diamond drilling, surveying, geology and engineering, and $12M budget.
