Chief Geotechnical Engineer
Responsible area:
- Grasberg Open Pit: 3.2 km diameter with 1 km depth (highest elevation at 4225m above sea level), varies of rock material types & strength (sedimentary rock - igneous rock, 10%-90% RQD), high rainfall rate (around 10mm/day).
- Wanagon & Cartensz dumping area: around 1 millon tonnes/day waste material placed in dumps area.
ƒÞ Plan, direct and control of geotechnical risk management in pit or overburden stockpiles construction, to advise on conditions likely to impact on safety and production, and recommend mitigation of the risk (Supporting with 24hr/day-7day/week working of geotechnical engineers in three shifts).
ƒÞ Review, direct and control of surface and down-hole stability monitoring system which are: Robotic Prisms, Extensometer, Slope Stability Radar & Piezometer.
ƒÞ Conducting slope stability & rock fall analysis of pit wall and dumps area using available softwares (Slope/W, FLAC, RocFall - RockScience). Liase with an appointed geotechnical consultant.
ƒÞ Plan and direct the subordinate's performance and review their activities to minimize possibilities of rework.
ƒÞ Review and analyze daily geotechnical issues to bring it into daily production meetings and incorporate geotechnical issues as project into daily mine plan.

Responsible area: All KPC mining area which operated by three Production Deparments ( 5 pits)
* Conduct regularly pit inspection to identify any potential geotechnical hazard and give recommendation to Mining Operation Division (MOD) people how to eliminate and/or minimize the risks
* Regular meeting with Mining Operation & Mine Planning departments to ensure all geotechnical recommendations will be implemented properly
* Supervise geotechnical laboratory activities: UCS test, Triaxial test, Direct shear test, rock & soil properties test, atterberg test & Compaction test
ƒÞ Generate rock strength parameters values from laboratory test results, field investigation & rock mass classification using Rock Science software (RocLab) for modelling pit slope stability analysis
