(i) Employed by Barrick Gold Corporation at Buzwagi Gold Mine in Tanzania in the position of Senior Mine Surveyor from 1st May 2009 to date.
Responsible for:-
* Carryout of survey for open pit mining, these include set out and pickup of blast patterns and grade control holes.
* Responsible for carryout of survey for projects around the mine site like construction of tailings dam, water storage facilities, new buildings, piping etc.
* Set out ore blocks and daily update of pit faces.
* Perform waste dump and mine access road designs.
* Set out and pickup of exploration collar holes.
* Generate mine plans to assist in mining planning.
* Carryout end of month survey for pits and stockpiles and computation of volumes for reconciliation purposes.]
* Provide training for junior surveyors and survey technicians on the best practices of mine surveying and application of Surpac and CivilCad in mine surveying and proper use of surveying instruments.
(ii) Employed by Katanga Mining Limited at Kamoto Operating Limited in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Position: Mine Surveyor from the 20th December 2007 to 10 February 2009, responsible for open pit survey and survey for underground mine:-
Responsibilities:
* To ensure accurate measurement of the pit including pit layouts and calculation of mined material volumes.
* Providing working design plans as required also update mine faces
* Create and manage survey database system.
* Perform survey for topographical mapping around the mine sites.
* Carryout ground photo control survey.
* Provide survey for engineering works like road construction, construction of new buildings and piping layout.
* Training and mentoring of field survey technicians
* To ensure correct placement of direction line for underground mining.
* To ensure grade lines are placed to control underground mining.
* Picking the mine developments for updating mine plans and for excavation volume computations.
* To provide training for nationals surveyors on application of surpac software in mine surveying and best survey practices.
* Extend the surface survey network to underground to replace the local survey network.
* Support exploration department by pegging and picking collar holes as required.
* To ensure the mine excavations adhere to the designs, by controlling pit excavations, dumping in the waste dumps, drilling blast pattern and grade control.
* Formulate open pit standard operating procedures.
(iii) Employed by Barrick Tanzania at North Mara Mine project.
Position: Chief surveyor from 26th October 2005 to 15th December 2007.
Responsibilities:
* To ensure all daily survey requests like set out of blast patterns, ore blocks, mine limits and pit pickups are done timely and accurately with minimal mining disruptions.
* Coordinating pits and stockpiles survey for volume computations and prepare end of month survey report
* Establishment and monitoring of primary and secondary survey controls within the Mining Lease.
* Compile and update (as required) procedures and methods for all surveying tasks- i.e. pit and stockpile pickups, set outs for pit and engineering tasks, drill hole surveys, station establishment, computer calculation and recording of information.
* Co-ordinate the survey section daily activities with active interaction with Operations, Geology, Exploration and Engineering personnel to ensure timely and effective surveying requests are achieved.
* To organize training for all personnel within the survey section.
* Monitoring of wall instability in pits with accurate reporting on required basis to provide information for analysis for failure prediction.
* Liaise with other departments to ensure integrated operation to achieve objectives
* To produce mine inspectorate plans for submitting to the government at the end of each year.
* To ensure all surveying instruments are properly used and sent for service when due for service.
(iv) Employed by Geita Gold Mine in the position of Mine Surveyor from 15th July
2002 to 23rd October 2005.
Responsibilities:
(a) Set out and pickup of pit crest, toe, grade control holes and blast holes.
(b) To carryout survey pickup of pits and stockpiles for accurate volume computations.
(c) To control mine excavations by ensuring designs are followed as close as possible.
(d) Set out and pick up of exploration collar holes.
(e) Survey for topographic mapping.
(f) Establishment of survey controls around the mine site.
(g) Mentoring of junior staff working in survey section.
(h) Perform ground survey for photo controls.
(i) Perform engineering survey for tailings dam, air strip construction, building construction, roads, piping and electric poles alignment.
(v) Employed by Tanzanian Government in the position of District Land Surveyor, from
June 2001 to July 2002.
Responsible for: -
(a) Carryout of cadastral survey within the district.
(b) Extension of the nation survey control network to the district to facilitate mapping of development projects like roads, cadastral and irrigation schemes.
(c) Carryout of farm surveys.
