PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

Last Assignment

Completed a green field project in Indonesia (Coal) as Chief of Project
The major areas of activity in this position were:
- Property assessment – complete due diligence
- More than 5000 ha property for thermal coal and about 900 ha for coking coal
- Forest clearance work for some parts of the property
- Converting some parts of the property from reserve forest area to mineable area
- EIA and EMP analysis and presentations
- Departmental meetings with govt bodies, forums
- Geological exploration, mapping, test pitting – trenching, complete drill design and drilling, sampling and analysis, mine infrastructure planning, bridge & road design, mine planning, production scheduling, trial production.
- Logistic for coal transportation from mine stockpile to port of dispatch via jetty / river.
- Selection of contractors, preparation of work contracts and supervision for all sub contracted jobs. – such as, drilling, road & bridge, stockpile, excavation of OB and coal, weigh bridge, jetty designing & construction, etc.
- Preparing presentations for Australian consultants.
- Leading full team of geologists, mining engineers, surveyor and other supporting staff – both Indian and Indonesian people.
- All work involving green field project – upto production stage.

Work details after graduation till date:

Started with graduate study summer training in Coal and Iron ore Mines - 1966-1970

1971-72: Stone drifting, tunneling and Coal production at Chasnala Mines, Supervision of Shift Operations. Shift Officer in Coal Mines - responsible for shift production and safety supervision.

1972-73: Postgraduate research work on an industry oriented project: "Ground Vibrations due to Mine and Quarry Blasting", at Indian School of Mines. Extensive blast studies, design of blasts, safe vibration level analysis, controlled blast techniques. Extensive field work in iron ore, limestone, coal mines. Prepared industry standard for prediction and control of vibration level.
1974: Consulting Mining Engineer, worked with Sofrémines India Limited, in association with Sofresid of France: Mine Expansion Project of TISCO group of mines - Jamadoba Coalfields - increasing coal production from 1.2 mtpa to 4.2 mtpa, West Bokaro mines- Project expansion.
1975: Consulting Mining Engineer, Sofremines India Ltd. for New Mechanisation Project at Murulidih 20-21 pits, Bharat Cokiing Coal Limited.
1975-76: Worked as Head of Project Site, Sofremines India Ltd.: Studies on Coal Bed Methane - Degassification Project at Amlabad Mine, Bharat Coking Coal Ltd., in association with Sofresid and Charbonage du Français, France.

1976 November to Mar 1993: Worked with Mining & Allied Machinery Corporation Ltd., a public sector giant.

MAJOR AREAS OF WORK:

-* Mine System Design, with reference to mine production and associated geo-technical considerations. Mine system mechanization, specification finalization and equipment selection. Installation and commissioning support.

-* Project Management: Turnkey contracts for material handling plants. Sub-contracting. Project scheduling, monitoring, trial run and handing over. Site management.

-* Setting up and Control of five Regional Offices of the company.

-* Foreign Collaborations: Contract preparation, negotiation, Project management.

-* Export market study (Mining and Material Handling Equipment): African countries

-* Senior Consultant on an export project: Setting up an integrated Coal Mine & Washery Project in Algeria on turn key basis. Data collection, client discussion, technical specifications. Identification of equipment suppliers. Government clearances, bank finance arrangement. Project report. Water recycling was an important feature in this project.

-* Prepared project report on Setting up of "Mining Machinery Manufacturing Plant" in Algeria, for Govt. of Algeria.
