48 years old white male and currently employed at Esayidi Further Education and Training (F.E.T.) College, Port Shepstone Campus, as a Technical trainer, Lecturer, Assessor and Moderator, DTTC Assessor and Moderator.
The subjects I lecturer are Petrol and Diesel Trade Theory N1 to N3.
Migrade Learnerships Level 1 to 4 (Technical trainer)
As a Technical trainer the experience gained over years of training recruits in the S.A.
National Defence force and more currently the lecturing of students has paid off well,
As I am able to gauge when to change the learning tempo and the type of tasks from classroom to workshops (theory to practical)
Safety and the whole safe working environment are foremost in my work ethic and reinforce it daily both in the classroom and the workshop, where the training I received from the National Occupational Safety Association features strongly.
Planned maintenance and Safety are vitally important in every sphere of business and correct procedures result in less down time and fiscal savings.
Being a skilled technical trainer requires a multi- faceted approach and having more than one tertiary qualification is a real asset, more than just a qualified mechanic (Petrol and Diesel), I am also qualified as a draughtsman, IT technician.
Accredited as a MERSETA Decentralized Trade Test Centre Assessor and Moderator as well as an OBE assessor and moderator all rolled into the package has equipped me with the necessary skills to plan, develop, and implement learning programs and material and then assess the assessments providing real time feedback to the trainees.
Presentation of training material using multimedia tools inspire the trainees to produce/acquire better results as they will gauge the trainer by the training materials and
Presentation methods. The Multimedia approach lend itself to more involved learning and
Imparts better retention of fact and knowledge and can be used to bolster practical skills as actual parts or components are used in the presentation.
Having gained experience working on a variety of vehicles and machinery, the aspects and difficulties each type present brings a dedicated focus when dealing with the various vehicles that are required by the Learnerships, mentoring, assessing and moderation.
