Career Summary:
A progressive career to date, which has provided a well-developed working knowledge of the Engineering, Health & Safety Environment. JOB TITLE: UNIT SAFETY OFFICER (Offshore Angola, West Africa)
GRADE: Senior Supervisor REPORTING TO:-Offshore Installation Manager
Professional Qualifications And Experience Requirements
— Qualified to a minimum of NEBOSH certificate, preferably NEBOSH diploma.
— Minimum of 10 years oil/gas/condensate processing experience either onshore on a gas plant, or offshore on an oil/gas platform or FPSO or at least 5 years as a safety officer in a similar environment.- FPSO experience desirable.
— Experience in Safety Management Systems.
— Fully experienced in the use and of permit to work systems, hot work activities, gas testing, enclosed space work, and safety monitoring of activities during plant shut-downs and refurbishment etc.
Typical Main Activities And Responsibilities
— Ensure that SBM Safety Procedures and Instructions are complied with.
— Maintain fire-fighting appliances and life-saving equipment in accordance with the Planned Maintenance System and related certification in date. Recording or reporting same as directed. — Co-ordinate and monitor the “Permit to Work” system.
— Conduct safety exercises, musters and drills.
— Carry out the duties of Helideck Landing Officer.
— Organise, undertake and participate in safety meetings and safety lectures in accordance with the fixed programme approved by the Superintendent.
— Monitor compliance with the SEP system and report written non-conformances to the Offshore Installation Manager for corrective action to be taken.
— Maintain accurate and organised records of all safety related equipment certification and ensure, through the OIM, that items are inspected; surveyed, calibrated, tested etc. in good time ensuring that certification is maintained current.
— Liaise with and assist the Utilities Superintendent to ensure that all safety related equipment maintenance is entered into the Planned Maintenance System and frequently updated.
— Under the direction of the OIM, investigate all incidents and accidents to initially make the area safe and then to determine cause. — Maintain orderly files of safety reports, correspondence and documents in accordance with the SEP system.
Assist the FPSO Management team with the implementation of document control procedures.
— Administer and monitor a Code of Safe Handling of Hazardous substance on the FPSO and maintain product data sheets on file.
— Undertake statutory area safety inspections in accordance with Flag regulations.
— Ensure spare parts received for safety department are fit for purpose.
Work Schedule
— On board offshore day work but 24 hour call. 28 on 28 off day rotation.

Employed Originally in 97 as a site technician for hydrocarbon services progressing to the
Operations Engineer and Health & Safety Officer for the Holland operation
Working on various projects as an individual and as part of small and large team's. Most notable contracts being Reliance Jamnagar India, Scotland on the E. T.A.P. project 97.
Supervising the Inter-Connector Gas Project at Bacton Norfolk 98, Italy a Stat-oil project, training personnel. Shearwater project the largest single module ever built in excess of 11,500 ton's.

For me the highlight to date has to be working in India for six months on the Reliance, Jamnagar Project, The Worlds Largest grass roots refinery. Overseeing and training a team of 100 fitters, using Hydratight equipment in possibly the most challenging of conditions, providing on-site advice and technical information along with a continuation of training to new personnel.
Also providing opportunity to view & live in the community and be part of another culture.
From Sept 01/2001 to present I have been working for the Hydratight/Sweeney B. V. Holland responsible for all refinery Oil, Gas & Diving operation customers & key Accounts, Woodstork / Nam etc. providing technical along with logistical support & office Administration.
