BASIC FUNCTIONS
Supervises and controls all activities of Gas, Analytical, Sulphur Terminal and GUP Laboratories. Performs special analysis and studies required for effective operational control, plant chemical evaluation, products quality control, performance tests and corrosion control. Coordinates with Senior Operations and Production Planning staff and Process Engineers for analysis schedules, test runs, shutdown, startup and technical surveys. Certifies granulated Sulphur that are exported.

Work Performed

Supervises the activities of assigned personnel in the Laboratory. Performs supervisory functions at the level established by Management for the position.

Monitors and reviews the day-to-day Laboratory activities of sampling and analysis of Gases, Refinery Utilities and GUP water, granulated Sulphur, and Liquid petroleum products employing gas chromatorgaphy, Spectrophotometric and wet Chemistry techniques and other routine/non routine tests carried out for plant control, corrosion control and quality control.

Personally carries out special gas Chromatography and spectrophotometry (IR, Visible, UV & AA) analysis required from time to time which involves advanced techniques, and the use of advanced computerized analytical instruments.

Installs new equipment, trains the Laboratory personnel on the operation of new analytical methods and organizes training programmes for Laboratory personnel.

Reviews all routine and non-routine Laboratory Test results for accuracy before feeding the results to LIMS and onward transmission to concerned parties.

Organizes activities concerning test runs in coordination with Process Engineering and Operations Sections regarding scheduling, identification of samples, arrangement of retention samples for various purposes
