2000-2005 Self Employed – Export Consultant
Undertook a 2 year Export Consultancy contract with Mitsui Trading pertaining to the export of coal. My main responsibility was in the negotiation of freight rates, documentation, vessel scheduling and weekly financial reporting's on P&L's, operating ratios, profit margins and fixed and variable costs. Additional tasks included preparing business strategy associated to marketing plans, business cases and customer negotiations.

Contract exceeded expectations to expand 5 years and Mitsui at the end of the contact took over the contact internally.

1997 – 1999 HI – Trans Express
Victorian Sales Manager responsible for upgrading this Carrier both in profitability and to ensure long-term contracts, both carried out successfully.

1991 - 1997 TNT - International Overseas projects
International Trade Development Manager responsible for setting up the TNT head office as a independent confidential business unit responsible for investigating new international opportunities by way of mergers or acquisition. My first task was to investigate and prepare a feasibility paper within 3 months for establishing a freight forwarding operation in Japan. The paper was completed within the time limitation, with the conclusion it would be feasible under a merger arrangement of mutual benefit with the share opinions at a later stage.

On acceptance by management it was decided it would require me to transfer to Japan to represent our interests and implement a planned strategy for moving forward.

Over a period of 18 months the Company not only became well established in freight forwarding, but in other areas of domestic transportation, distribution and courier services.

During my period I was able to establish an excellent network of corporate connections and contracts which enabled me to secure a massive contract with the Japanese Government in conjunction with Nisso Iwai, Mitsui, Mitsubishi and Kobe Steel. The project under a scheme named the Sunshine Consortium, called for an investment of $700 million to establish a pilot plant in the Latrobe Valley (Morwell) Victoria, in order to obtain technology of changing coal to oil, all construction material was to be supplied ex Japan.

After extended period of negotiations I secured on behalf of TNT the Transport Logistic Contract for all matters covering movements to Australia. The project covered Land / Sea / Air Transportation. Due to the size of the transportation content (32 million dollars) and effort required to successfully carrying out the logistics I transferred back to Melbourne.

The contract went on successfully for 5 years and returned to the TNT Group around 8.7 net profits. I gained Board recognition for an outstanding job well done.

Other Achievements
* Divisional Manager of 2 divisions over 3 years retaining nil turnover of sales staff achieving 70% and 85% over budget results
* Acquisition of ABC Shipping Agencies
* Successfully established a 3 year business plan covering international expansion within the freight forwarding operations into 10 Countries, involving 12 new offices. Projected budgets were exceeded by 11% after 2.5 years and 8 additional offices were consequently opened

1989 - 1990 - TNT- SEAFAST Freight Forwarding / Sea /Air Transport
Appointed, Divisional Sales Manager to establish a new corporate trading division: TNT - SEAFAST International.

On completion of a business development plan, I used TNT's overseas connections and appointed forwarding agents. Then using my own international networking group I established an immediate clientele, thus creating a cash flow, appointing a sales team and administration staff to drive the business.

Within 18 months the Seafast was well established and profitable and a new Divisional Sales Manager was appointed.

Other Achievements
Secured the Kraft Foods export account, revenue wise approximately around 3 million dollars to the TNT Group.

* Implementation of Air courier division and Road divisions to secure ESSO Gippsland offshore contract for 5 years ($6.5 million
* Appointed to executive committee to review internal administration costs. End result merger of 5 divisions with cost savings of 3 million dollars in first 2 years.
* As Divisional Manager for 2 divisions over 3 years without change in any sales staff achieved 70% and 85% over budget results respectively

1985 - 1989 - TNT- RUDDERS Customs Brokers / Freight Forwarders

As the Sales Manager at the time this particular division was unprofitable my brief as was to make the necessary adjustments and return it to profitability. Current contracts were reviewed and honoured, but then renegotiated to ensure more profitable returns. On completion of an approved business and marketing plan, staff was re deployed and a new sales team appointed to drive sales, review budgets and to ensure profitability as a new cost centre.

Within 12 months TNT- Rudders returned too regular profit and increased in sales.
In respect to my sales effort I obtained on average 150 / 160 new clients per year with a return of total yearly revenue figure of 3 million dollars.

As Business Development Manager for Rudders and Intercontinental Cargo / Courier Divisions I successfully managed Sale Representatives and achieved results of 25% over budget for consecutive periods.
