PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Sub Surface Manager, Assam Asset, ONGC 2001- till date

Reservoir Management & Production Planning of a matured Asset, with a reserve of over 475 million bbls having several fields of clastic reservoirs with both active bottom water and depletion drive, under the given constraints of aged infrastructural facilities.
The key areas of involvement include maximization of oil production and recovery through identification of domains of bypassed and undrained oil, planning & monitoring of infill drilling & sidetrack with emphasis on hi-tech wells, polymer based water shut off jobs and water injection management.
The position and responsibilities include leading the multi disciplinary Sub Surface Team of more than 100 professionals. Technically and managerially responsible for spearheading entire spectrum of activities related to oil & gas production of the Asset, including drilling and well services.

Multidisciplinary Team Leader 1998-2001

Prepared simulation based redevelopment plan of multilayered carbonate reservoir of giant Mumbai High South field in Western Offshore India, having a reserve of over 700 Million bbls.

The redevelopment plan included preparation of fine scale geo-cellular geological model, up scaling into reservoir model to capture the reservoir heterogeneity, matching of history of over 18 years of reservoir performance, planning of in-fill locations including horizontal wells, using a modular approach with built-in dynamism and flexibility to adapt to alternate technology, finalization of water injection strategy, performance forecast with reservoir and well flow dynamics integration, optimization of production platforms, techno-economic analysis and preparation feasibility report. The plan envisaged drilling of 140 new wells, installation of 17 well head platforms, one integrated process cum gas compressor platform & eight clamp-on structures and conversion of 32 producers into injectors.
The redevelopment plan at a cost of over US$ 1.1 billion is currently under implementation and has already resulted in an incremental oil production of about 30,000 BOPD.

In charge- Reservoir Monitoring Group, ONGC, Mumbai 1994-1998

Monitored performance of major carbonate reservoirs of Western Offshore fields of India: Neelam, Heera, Mumbai High North & South.

Major tasks involved production planning & monitoring, performance evaluation, planning and monitoring of in-fill & re-drilling programme and planning & surveillance of water injection.

Position Held Chief Manager (Reservoir)

In charge - Oil & Gas Field Development Group, IRS, Ahmedabad 1991-1994

Evaluated and monitored performance of fields in the heavy oil belt of North Gujarat, India and prepared simulation based development plans with in-fill drilling programme for production and recovery enhancement at Institute of Reservoir Studies (IRS), the premium R&D Institute of ONGC for EOR studies and field development strategies.

Key member - Reservoir Assessment & Description Group, IRS 1989-1991

Delineated bypassed oil in Ankleshwar field, the oldest producing Asset in the Western Onshore Basin of India, by integrating static and dynamic models of multilayered reservoir.

The models so prepared are helping in better understanding of reservoir performance behaviour and provided valuable inputs to subsequent reservoir simulation studies.
