Safety Specialist / Managing Director OHMCATS Pty Ltd

OBJECTIVE
To continue in contract consultant style roles within the mining or oil and gas sectors utilising my "no fuss" management, strong leadership / mentoring style and excellent management skills, strong task orientation, extensive knowledge of OH&S related issues, well developed and varied mining / industrial experience and my strong research skills base.

SUMMARY
I am the Project Safety Health and Environment manager for Aker Kvaerner at the clean fuels project at the Shell refinery at Clyde (Parramatta) and the fabrication site in Newcastle.
This role encompasses all the normal HSE responsibilities.
The challenges of this project are:
- The required safety philosophy change of the fabrication plant personnel and management and:
- The modularisation of the plant equipment and the transport of those modules to each of the refineries, (Clyde and Geelong).
- The management of 4 contractor companies 2 of which have little or no experience on refinery sites.
- Geographically separated sites.
- I have 5 Safety advisors reporting to me over the two sites that I have responsibility for.
- Total personnel for both sites are approximately 320. (Exclusive of Geelong)
- Maximum weight of the heaviest module is 120 ton; there are 39, 18 of which are for Clyde.
- The combined cost of this project is approximately $170 million.
- The project is due for completion early December 2005.

I was the Project Safety Advisor to the Aker Kvaerner Asset Control Enhancement Project team assisting the team to complete the ACE project. (This role was ongoing from the previous role where I assisted the team on a part time basis while on loan from O& G Solutions).
The ACE project was completed Dec. 2004

I was the Lead Safety / Training coordinator to Oil and Gas Solutions, a member of the EPC alliance with Santos, (an amalgamated company of United KG and Aker Kvaerner), conducting their day-to-day operations, and the development of their in house Safety Management System.
As part of the above role I was the Project Safety coordinator and trainer for the incumbent Safety Advisor and his back-to-back Safety Advisor for the demolition and fire remediation team at the Santos Moomba oil and gas site.
The Highlight of the project is. No LTI's over 260k hours worked with a workforce of 250 plus at various times.

I also provided Project Safety Advice to an onsite Aker Kvaerner project management team who are at Moomba with a 50 strong team of instrument and electrical personnel working for 3 independent contract companies conducting the Asset Control Enhancement Project for Santos.

I was the lead Safety Coordinator for three other projects within the EPC alliance one of which is a Greenfield site near the Santos gas field of Ballera.
(This contract with O&G Solutions was completed end of July 2004.)

I have been employed on a contract basis for many companies within the mining industry, when I am not employed in this area; I operate as a consultant to various small to medium sized general industry companies in the South East Qld area as outlined later in this CV.

ADDITIONAL TASKS:
I am studying for my Master's Degree in applied science of OH&S through Greenwich University in the UK.

One individual has requested that I mentor them in their aspiration to become a Safety Professional. This individual is studying at Ballarat University. Their aim is to gain a safety related degree and attain full time employment.
