Background of the company:
The business of importing live stocks and processing meat operated earlier by the Ministry of commerce, Govt. of Bahrain was privatised in the year 2000. At present the company is owned by three leading business houses in Bahrain along with the Government of Bahrain with each of the four shareholders holding 25% stake in the company. Number of employees is around 100 and the annual turnover of the company is USD 40 million.
Responsibilities
I am responsible for all the finance, accounts, IT and Personnel functions of the company. I report to the Chairman of the company. I also act as Secretary for the Board of Directors. Number of employees reporting to me: 10 including 2 qualified Chartered accountants.
.Major achievements.
a) Made feasibility study and Business plans of the project for the final investment by the Shareholders in the company.
b) Successfully completed the PRIVATISATION PROJECT by leading the project team.
c) Set up bank facilities like Bank guarantee and Letter of Credits.
d) Reviewed the requirement of staff and reorganized the Finance department. During this exercise the manpower cost of the finance department was reduced by 50% with the appointment of few higher skilled employees in place of many employees who have not performed adequately under the old set up.
e) Established all systems and procedures to strengthen the internal controls.
F )There was no computer system in the ministry; all the records were manual and in Arabic and I computerized the entire operations by introducing new computer systems.

Responsibilities
Head of finance, accounts and IT functions. I reported to the Chairman of the Board.
Achievements.
1) Introduction of several controls and procedures like wastage controls in the production section. This being the process industry, control of wastage is a major critical factor and I contributed in reducing the per cent from 8% to 2% (annual cost reduction on account of this works out to appx USD 1 million)
2) Introduced MIS reporting system for the company,
3) New stores control procedures
4) Establishment of office in Kuwait
5) Negotiation with foreign suppliers in Denmark for technical service agreement
6) Introduction of costing system for the company and
7) Special projects on the Kuwait operations by making evaluations on the profitability for the next five years.
