I am a professional Safety Manager specialising in heavy construction and civil construction. Having gained my experience in Australia and SE Asia, Central America and the Middle East. In addition I have had a period with NSW WorkCover as an OH&S Construction Inspector.
I am particularly skilled in planning and management, at design and constructability having proven cost savings of millions of dollars by being involved at this part of the project. In addition I have much experience on-site and all the respective duties which accompany the construction period.
NSW Construction LTIFR currently is 39.9, on my sites LTIFR has been <2.
I am experienced in the management and implementation of team based approaches. I have been highly effective in small team based environments where my skills can be a specialist and complimentary value to the overall team effectiveness. However I am also self dependant and can operate in remote locations on my own

2003 BHP-B Dendrobium Project, $480m Underground coal and surface infrastructure project. Safety Specialist Consultant (Construction).

2003 BHP-B Wyong Project consulting awaiting notification of project execution.
General consulting to another large construction company the rest of the time. The viability of the Wyong Project was unknown and no decision was forthcoming before the end of 2004. During this waiting period I took another position (above) at Wollongong with BHP on the Dendrobium Project which as I left to join Ok Tedi was approaching completion.

2003 Asked by BHP-B to transfer from previous project to Wyong Project as Owners Team Safety Manager, as it was winding down, to new project to guide through pre-feasibility, feasibility and ultimately execution. Full development of safety management System for multi $$ Project.

2002 Safety Manager specialist Construction, BHP Billiton building a green field coal mine infrastructure. A$750 million project. Owners Team Safety Manager responsible for safety on the project and oversight of Principal Contractor.

2001 Australian Cement Group Safety Manager, National Manager, Executive position for all of Australasia.
Resigned due to death of our 7 ½ month old 2nd daughter December 2001

2000 Macquarie Generation, Corporate Safety Manager at Bayswater/Liddell 2 largest power stations in Australia.

1999 Oil Search Limited, PNG Safety Co-ordinator (Manager) on oil and gas project including 6 solar gas turbine power station. Construction of new domestic facilities.
Returned to Australia when after 20 years being married we had a daughter, our first child.

1998 WorkCover Authority as a Construction Inspector.

1997 Port Waratah Coal Services, Owners Team OH&S Manager building a ship loader in Newcastle.

1995. 2 year consultancy period with Hunter Area Health as Area OH&S Manager, (6 hospitals, 20 community health facilities, 2 cook/chill facilities, 2 industrial laundries) including large construction project during time.

1990 moved to Cairns ran Safety and First Aid Training Services as a consultant Safety/Security and training company. Clients throughout Australia ( Australian Resorts (Qantas), Australian Silica, Eltin minerals, TAFE etc), and SE. Asia (Sumatra, Timor, Irian Jaya, Jakarta), Construction projects and mining predominately.

1989 studied for tertiary OH&S qualifications and started consulting in private sector on safety, risk management, emergency training, management and security analysis. During this study period I worked offshore for Esso.; Safety, Para-medic and Radio Operator.

1987 Immigrated to Australia; joined National Safety Council of Australia (NSCA) as Chief Instructor/examiner helicopter aircrew. Organised and formalised all aircrew rescue training and examined rescue techniques and medical abilities. Responsible for all training at all National Bases and wrote numerous training programmes for overseas clients (Singapore, Malaysian, Brunei, Thailand Royal Flight etc.)

1984 joined Sultan of Oman's military forces as Chief Inspector (police). Senior Helicopter Instructor/Examiner and operational manager. Taught Search And Rescue and Special Forces teams on helicopter and fixed wing. Co-ordinated operational aircraft tasking and training school recruitment and operation.

1979 Qualified as flying instructor and examiner through RAF Central Flying School. Specialised in Helicopter Search and Rescue (SAR) and Special Forces (SF). Qualified as Para-Medic. Experienced in all facets of SAR and SF activities.
