WORK EXPERIENCE

BP EXPLORATION (Caspian Sea – Azerbaijan) –Drilling Engineer. Nov. 2006 – To Date

DE Assigned to the Shah Deniz Alpha Platform. Main responsibilities are related to the preparation and execution of the remedial programs (work over), for sub sea pre-drill wells to be tied-back, and the drilling program for the second platform well. Shah Deniz is a HPHT gas condensate field, with wells of +6000m MD, 170-200 drilling and completion days, and $60 MM - $70 MM of budget.

BP EXPLORATION (Caspian Sea – Azerbaijan)– Lead Drilling Eng. Oct 2004–Nov 2006

Lead Operations engineer assigned to one shallow water platform in the Caspian Sea. Main responsibilities were related to the preparation and execution of the readiness plan for the platform start up, tie back and drilling engineering, programs, operational guidelines, budget preparation, and mentoring and coaching of local staff. Wells are in a shallow water area; Main drilling issues are related to shallow soil conditions including shallow water flows, reactive shales. The wells are completed with Open Hole Gravel packs, being able to produce an average of 30,000 bopd. Planning, logistics and material procurement are really a challenge since Baku is still a remote location with an impressive growing activity. Drilling depths are around 4,000 – 4,500 m, with a budget of $20MM-$25 MM and 60-70 drilling and completion days.

BP EXPLORATION (COLOMBIA) 1996 – 2004
Planning Drilling Engineer Feb 2004 – Sep 2004
Main functions were related to the selection of New Technology for the projects being planned by BP for 2004 and 2005, and the re-negotiation of major Drilling Contracts with services providers. Manager for an Integrated Services Contract valued in US$40 MM

Drilling Operations Engineer –Niscota Exploration Project (Land ops) Jan 2003 – Feb an 2004
Prepared detailed engineering programs and provided day engineering support to the operation of a land drilling rig in the Niscota E-1 wildcat well (AFE / Budget: 210 days, US$37.7MM). Additional responsibilities included: Interact with Baker Hughes INTEQ for drilling using VertiTrak (vertical drilling system), in 26", 18-1/2" and 10-5/8" hole sections; Select and Implement alternative technologies for improving drilling performance; Lead and Support the implementation of the "Beyond the Best" (BP Worldwide Planning Process), and "Technical Limit" processes; Optimise contracts and logistics processes for the equipment and materials.

Drilling and Workover Operations Engineer (Land ops) May 2000 – Jan 2003
During 2002, I acted as Planning Engineer in charge of Feasibility Studies, and the "Beyond the Best" and "Technical Limit" processes implementation. As Field Operations Engineer from 2000 to 2002, I was in charge of the operation of two rigs at the time, including well program preparation. Rigs were operating in Cusiana, Cupiagua and Recetor fields. Drilling Well budgets varied from $20 MM to $30 MM, and workover jobs from $3.0 MM to $6.0MM.

Junior Drilling Engineer (Land ops) Jul 1998 - Apr 2000
Technical support to the drilling team for well planning and operations. Identification of new technology to add value to the well delivery process. Helped in the preparation of feasibility studies for future wells including High Angle Wells and Re-entries /laterals. Organize meetings and workshops with BPX, joint venture partners and the Colombian Oil Company.

Drilling Supervisor Assistant (Land ops) May 1997 - Jun 1998
Provided support to the Drilling Supervisor on: coordination of logistics at rig site, the verification of the application of HSE Standards. Deal with Government and Community reps at rig site.

* Deliver of the first well (July 2006), and third well (November 2006) in the West Azeri Platform well drilled in the Caspian Sea (2006), with a new brand fully automatic cyber rig with a good record of HSE and the days /10,000 ft performance indicator above the adjusted target for the field of 29 days /10,000 ft. Operations included driving one of the worldwide deepest closed ended 30" conductor to ca. 220 meters below mud line.

* Deliver of the Tie backs of the wells of West Azeri Field in the Caspian (2005), overcoming well head and jacket misalignment problems, fourth months ahead of schedule.
* Outstanding delivery of Niscota E-1 exploration well (2003), saving more than US$10 MM and 116 drilling days in this wildcat well.
* Lead the Implementation the "Beyond the Best" Process for BP projects, which allowed reaching very significant performance improvements in BP Colombia (2002).
* Implementation of the Technical Limit (TL) process for Development projects in BP Colombia with excellent results and getting a very positive cultural change (2002).
* Delivery of Cupiagua Sur XA-3 Lateral 1, the longest lateral branch ever drilled by BP Colombia: 1,207 ft, and well Liria YR-4, the first High Angle Well in Mirador formation (main reservoir, hard rock drilling), drilled by BP Colombia (2001)
