Topic: Worked for the design of supersonic nozzle contour.
Achieved: Completed the work by designing the contour of supersonic nozzle for various purpose.

Major Research Projects Undertaken

Project 1: Library Automation Software
Guide: Dr Amitabh Mukherjee, IITK
Summary of project: Designed the library automation software. Our software had all the features required to fully automate a library, including features like book search, user information, book status information etc.
Achievement: It was made available for use in the library.

Project 2: Design of supersonic nozzle..
Guide: Dr.Shashi Bhushan Verma, NAL Bangalore.
Summary of Project: Developed a code to determine the contour of supersonic nozzles. Three different types of supersonic nozzles were designed: (1)Minimum length supersonic nozzle for a given exit mach number, (2) Supersonic wind tunnel nozzle for a given test section size and test section mach number and (3) Optimal thrust nozzle per unit length/area using method of characteristics. The computational code was written in JAVA.
Achievement: Code was later used in the development of supersonic facility at NAL, Bangalore. Code was also verified for design of rocket nozzles also.

Project 3: Characteristics and Mechanism for the formation of secondary vortex shedding.
Guide: Dr.Sanjay Mittal, IITK.
Summary of Project: Used stabilized finite element method to study far wake of two dimensional cylinder placed perpendicular to the flow. Observed and characterized the properties of secondary vortex street. Effects of a "slip" splitter plate on secondary vortex street were also studied. Linear stability analysis of average flow was also done to find out the instable modes. Finally the mechanism for the formation of secondary vortex was discussed.
Achievement: Part of work is already sent for possible presentation at the IUTAM
Symposium. Also the finished work will be sent for publication in
Journal of fluid mechanics.
Project 4: Shear Layer Instabilities.
Guide: Dr Sanjay Mittal, IITK.
Summary of project: Currently, I am working on the mixing of the shear layers under Dr.Sanjay Mittal. This work will partially fulfill the requirements of the M-Tech-B-Tech (Dual Degree) programme in Aerospace Engineering.

Publication and Presentation o A paper titled "Investigation and characterization of Secondary vortex shedding" will be sent for publication in Journal of Fluid Mechanics.
o Submitted an abstract titled "SECONDARY INSTABILITY IN THE WAKE OF A BLUFF BODY" by Tariq Haque and Sanjay Mittal for possible oral presentation at the IUTAM Symposium to be held in Kerkyra (Corfu), Greece from June 18-22, 2007.
o Talked on physics behind the swing of a cricket ball in the partial fulfillment of Communication skills course.
o Talked about the complete design of the aircraft in the partial fulfillment of Aircraft Design-2 Course.

Awards and Achievements o Got distinction in national Mathematical Olympiad.
o Among 1% top students in IIT-JEE 2002
o All India Rank 6 in AIT entrance Exam.
