Present Occupation
Since September 2001 I have been enrolled at Nottingham University studying for a Mining Engineering Degree. I have now completed my degree, and will be awarded a B/Eng (1st or 2:1) in July 2004. I am seeking employment in the mining or petroleum sector, and am willing to consider anything that will challenge me or give me a solid skill base.

Gap Year
I took a year out on completion of secondary school, during which I worked and traveled independently. The highlights were: working on the beach in Co. Kerry, Ireland for three months as a pony trekking guide; working as a conservation volunteer rehabilitating rainforest in Equador; packing bulbs and travelling around Holland, and seeing my parents in New Zealand. This summer I augmented my travelling experience with a trip to Sabah, where I climbed the highest mountain in Malaysia (Mount Kilabalu), and was awarded my PADI open water diving licence.

Education (Secondary)
 I studied seven subjects at Leaving Certificate level in the Republic of Ireland.
 I was awarded 550 points out of a possible 600, putting me in the top 1% of the nation. This is equivalent to 27.5 points out of 30 at A level.

Interests
My interests are many, but difficult to outline. I enjoy meeting people, whether through social situations or travel. I have a deep interest in conservation, and how we can realistically limit the damage we cause to the environment. However this also extends to the pastime of watching animals! I am really enthused at the moment by Spanish culture and language, since my two trips abroad, and I also love travelling for it's own sake. I enjoy amateur geology, as well as studying my own form of psychology, and any literature I can get my hands on.

Most of my ambitions are very personally orientated, and unrelated to material things. Therefore I would like to become an expert in my field, or whatever I specialise in career-wise. I want to be proud of my work and my achievements.

Employment to Date

Over the last three years, I have worked in over ten different locations, gaining a wide variety of skills and experience. This includes the ability to adapt and deal with all types of people happily. I regard this as an achievement that took self-motivation and hard work.

 Work Experience- Panshanger Park Quarry, Lafarge (June-Aug '03)
This was my second summer working for Lafarge on a quarry. This time, as a weighbridge operator, co-ordinating all outgoing loads, and shadowing the manager in his dealing with contractors, safety inspections, budgets and excavation planning. I learned more about the day to day running of a plant this summer than I ever could have in university.

For the last two years I have been working part-time for Gatecross restaurants, at the Playhouse bar and recently, the Bag'O'Nails.

 Work Experience-Whitwell Quarry, Lafarge (June-Aug '02)
I spent ten weeks here, working in the laboratories, with the concrete technicians, in the dispatching plant and painting! I became so interested in everything that I prolonged my stay two more weeks, and still keep in contact with some of the people I worked with.

While working part-time for Recruitment Solutions, I traveled to the Hilton in London, Silverstone racetrack and York Castle to wait at functions.

I worked for Target Recruitment all summer in the Bourgundien Bulb Factory in Lisse, Holland.

I visited my family living in New Zealand, and concentrated on my swimming and babysitting!

I spent two months on a rainforest station in Equador owned by Jatun Sacha, the biggest NGO in the country, hiking and taking part in a reforestation project.

I worked on one of Premier Leisure's road trips, promoting local pubs and restaurants in the Coleraine area of Northern Ireland.

I spent a happy four months as a waitress and barperson in Conor's Café, Belfast.
