As a Field Service Engineer for Baker Petrolite's chemical supply and management contract with ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Chad, I was responsible for onsite customer interface and day-to- day operations of this account worth ~US$4m p.a. This involved liaising and working with personnel from ExxonMobil HS&E, field management, drilling/ reservoir engineering, corrosion engineering, government regulatory bodies
(eg customs), logistics personnel and other contractors.

Roles and Responsibilities
Management and optimization of chemical treatment programs provided to ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Chad;
Reporting to ExxonMobil Corporate and the Chadian government;
Supervision and training of a team of six Chadian personnel;
Co-ordination of daily work activities for six Chadian personnel;
Assisting in the removal of corrosion coupons (when requested);
Field and laboratory analyses and subsequent interpretation of results;
Conducting and evaluating chemical field trials from both a technical and financial perspective;
Preparation of reports for ExxonMobil Chad's management that summarised the performance of supplied treatment programs;
Laboratory screening and subsequent field trials of products; and

Optimisation of wellhead chemical treatment, improving chemical treatment from both a technical perspective (reduction in wellhead pressure) and an operational/logistical perspective (reduction in the number of application points by over fifty percent).
Member of a team that implemented and continually assessed the wellhead chemical treatment programmes.
Development of a monitoring program to optimize a water clarification treatment program (eg, 200% improvement in the quality of the produced water being re-injected in water disposal wells).
Implemented chemical treatment programs in Chad that contributed to ExxonMobil commencing production 12-months ahead of schedule.
Development of an inventory tracking system that improved inventory management, directly improving the account's profitability.

As the onsite representative, I was responsible for the day-to-day management of Thevenard Island operations and onsite customer interface for Baker Petrolite's chemical supply contract with ChevronTexaco. This involved liaising and working with personnel from HS&E, field management, drilling/ reservoir engineering, corrosion engineering, government regulatory bodies, logistics personnel and other contractors.

Management and optimization of chemical treatment programs provided to ChevronTexaco;
Identification and assessment of new business opportunities;
Inventory management and control;
Monitoring corrosion rates via weight loss coupons, Electrical Resistance probes, ultra-sonic testing and derived corrosion rates;
Laboratory screening and subsequent field trials of products;
Conducting and evaluating chemical field trials from both a technical and financial perspective;
Preparation of reports for ChevronTexaco's management that summarised the performance of chemical treatment programs;
Field and laboratory analyses and subsequent interpretation of results;
Liaison with ChevronTexaco and other contractor personnel;
Liaison with and reporting to regulatory bodies; and
Provision of training and development for BakerPetrolite's technicians working in Brunei.

Achievements
Development and refinement of a corrosion management plan and philosophy – reduced pipeline corrosion rates by over 200%.
Development, implementation and refinement of chemical treatment and monitoring programs. Refinement improved performance from both a technical (eg 200% improvement in treated water quality) and cost (eg, 150% reduction in water clarifier dosage rates via selection of a superior product) perspective.
Identification that the water exiting a water-flood plant was infected with sulfate reducing bacteria. I was subsequently involved in the team that addressed this problem over a period of six months.
Development of an order tracking system that improved inventory management and improved the account's profitability. Cost savings contributed to the contract being extended for three years.
Identification of sulfate reducing bacteria infection sources and subsequent development of a more effective sulfate reducing bacteria management plan.
Refinement of monthly performance reports issued to ChevronTexaco to summarise chemical treatment programs outcomes.
Conducted a successful plant trial for a demulsifier and a water clarifier. Subsequent implementation improved treated water quality by 200%.
