34 years of experience in industrial project execution from the front end loading (FEL) phases through to construction, commissioning and start-up. Industry experience includes; oil and gas production facilities, heavy oil facilities, SAGD, mines, pipe lines, refineries, petrochemical plants, power generation facilities and others. Major clients include Syncrude, Suncor, Imperial Oil, Exxon Mobil, Enbridge, Chevron, Shell, PetroEcuador, PDVSA, Waha, Zuetina, Veba, YPF Repsol, and Maxus Energy among others.
His comprehensive experience includes positions as Project Manager, Project Engineer, General Manager, Director of Marketing, Quality Manager, Lead Auditor, Discipline Lead (Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls) and Construction Superintendant. Suncor Energy Inc., Ft. McMurray, Alberta – Voyageur Upgrader ($11B) – EP for the Naptha, Gas Oil and Diesel Hydrotreater Units (HTU = $1.5B) as part of Suncor's plan to expand production to 250,000 BPD by 2012. Project Quality Manager for the EDS and EP execution phases of the HTU project. Coordinated all aspects of corporate and client QA/QC planning and programs.
Devon ARL Corporation, Calgary, Alberta - Jackfish SAGD Project ($450M) Quality Manager and Safety Coordinator for a large steam assist gravity drain (SAGD) heavy oil project in northern Alberta. The project featured 4 well pads with up to 11 wells per pad and a central processing facility design for an initial capacity of 35,000 bpd and expandable to 50,000 bpd. The EP scope of work included steam production, oil treating, recycle of produced water, water treatment, water disposal and sales oil storage.
Suncor Energy Inc., Ft. McMurray, Alberta – Moveable Slurry Facility. ($150M) Senior Project Engineer for the design and fabrication of a 6,000 tonnes per hour ore preparation facility in the Suncor Millennium mining area. The project is a first of its kind to design a slurry facility that will be capable of being moved along the mine floor at a distance of approximately 300m every 3 to 4 weeks, and within a 24 to 48 hour period of time. The overall project features a mine face shovel, mobile crusher; mobile mine face conveyor, mobile dry surge and transfer conveyor, and the moveable slurry facility.
Quadrise Canada Fuels Systems Inc., Calgary, Alberta – MSAR Project. Sr. Project Manager for the development and fabrication of a new technology designed to produce an alternate fuel source (MSARTM) from non-traditional raw materials. This fuel is expected to offset the high demand on natural gas used in the production of heavy oil and bitumen in the industry.
Imperial Oil Ltd., Calgary, Alberta – Mackenzie Gas Project. ($12B) Senior Project Engineer in charge of a 1.2 BSCFD expandable to 1.9 BSCFD gas plant and other remote gas processing facilities for a pipeline project that is designed to bring gas out of the Canadian Arctic to Northern Alberta. The project included the pre-feed or conceptual study phase, preparation of regulatory filing documentation and the feed engineering phases to produce a Class III cost estimate and schedule.
ConocoPhillips, North Slope, Alaska, USA - Sr. Project Engineer for the design of the Alpine Capacity Expansion Project (FEL1 to FEL3) to increase the existing 80,000 bpd oil production to 110,000 bpd on Alaska's North Slope. The project included de-bottlenecking of the existing oil handling and gas handling facilities along with the utilities and off-sites. A new seawater injection system and pipeline were also introduced to aid in the development of the increased production.
Talisman Energy Ltd., Calgary, Alberta – Wembley Waterflood Project. Project Manager for the EPCM of a 1,000 m3/day waterflood project (with provisions to upgrade to 2,000 m3/day) in Northern Alberta. The project included seven injector wells, one source well, pipelines, and a facilities installation.
Enbridge Inc. (IPL), Edmonton, Alberta – Vector Gas Transmission Project. ($500M) Project Engineer and Instrument/ Controls Lead for the EPCM of a 1.5 BSCFD EPCM natural gas transmission project. The 42", 1000 psig MAOP line runs from Chicago, Illinois to Dawn, Ontario and features two 30,000 HP compressor stations, thirty four main line valves stations, and five custody transfer metering stations.
Talisman Energy Ltd., Calgary, Alberta – Lovett River Gas Project. Project Lead for an 80 MMSCFD EPCM sour gas gathering system and pipe line project. The project comprised 10 wellsite heaters, pipe line re-heater, pigging stations, and an inlet facility.
Additional experience in Colt included; development of the Project Management Workshop, Division Lead Auditor, Analyst for international Work Share opportunities and member of several committees for the management of the Quality Management System (QMS).

Express Pipeline Ltd., Calgary, Alberta, Canada, USA - Senior Project Engineer for the development of the DBM and purchase specifications for the EXP2 Expansion Project for the Express Pipeline running from Alberta Canada to Wyoming, USA. The project features an addition of two tank farms, and nine new pumping stations. Each pumping station was equipped for two 4000 HP electric driven pumps. Deliverables included the development of the Design Basis Memorandum (DBM), preliminary P&IDs, specifications for valves and the electrical equipment (4160V/600V/208V), single line electrical drawings, and the request for purchase (RFP) documents.
Alberta Energy Corporation, Quito, Ecuador – Project Managers for the construction of the tank farm for the AEC Tarapoa field in the Ecuadorian Amazon. The design was provided by CBI with all of the field erection by RTI inc.
PetroEcuador – SOTE, Quito, Ecuador - Senior Project Manager for various scoping studies including the amplification of the TransEcuadorian pipe line (SOTE), modernization of a multi-product pipe line from Esmeraldas to Guayaquil, and a technical audit of the Honeywell TDC-3000 DCS system installed in the PetroEcuador refinery in Esmeraldas.
Maxus/ YPF Repsol, Quito, Ecuador – Block 16 Power Project ($80M USD) – Senior Project Manager for the design of a turnkey 80 MW dual fuel (crude oil/natural gas) power generation facility to supply the northern and southern production facilities (NPF/ SPF) and associated pipelines in the Maxus Block 16 development.
Maxus Energy Inc., Quito, Ecuador – Block 16 Development Project ($400M USD) – Owner's E,I&C Manager for the design of an 80,000 b/d heavy oil operation in the Ecuadorian Amazon rain forest. The oil operations included several pipelines, 2 production facilities, 11 remote well pads (each with up to 12 wells per pad), blending facility, water disposal, and storage facilities.

Responsible for the execution of several electrical and control system projects in Canada, USA, North Africa and South America. Managed a branch office in Midland, Texas. The projects ranged from the design of the power and distribution systems for small oil batteries to compressor stations, gas plants, compressor stations, production facilities, pipelines, and offshore platforms.
Three main areas of engineering specialties were electrical power distribution systems, automated control systems (SCADA), and electronic design and manufacture of electronic motor protection equipment (R&D). Provide control system configuration and troubleshooting assistance for a variety of industrial, commercial and agricultural applications. 1986 – 1987 Project Lead – Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
Magna IV Engineering Ltd.
Duties included the testing and commissioning of electrical systems and networks from 600 V to 256 KV for commercial, institutional, and industrial clientele in Northern and Western Canada. Duties included: fault calculations, protective relay calibration and testing; maintenance and acceptance testing of medium and high voltage switchgear, transformers, grounding systems, capacitors; cable fault location; professional witness and forensic reporting for electrical system failures; O&M program development and manual preparation; and project management. Experience also acquired in the preparation and presentation of technical courses for HV grounding, testing procedures, and safety.
Assisted in the marketing, sales and training of specialized HV test and measurement equipment. Major clients included: ESSO, IPL Inc., Alberta Power Ltd., Syncrude Canada Ltd., Suncor, AEG Pipeline, and Dow Chemical.
