Primary responsibility for the PDVSA account and co-management of the UOP – Intevep relationship and research co-operation.

Work with both Intevep's and UOP's technologists to define joint development activities and evaluate the technologies and participate in stage-gate reviews.

The Sales Group was very successful in 2000 with sales far exceeding expectations.

Responsible for managing the FAO Project Sales Group, had 5 direct reports. The Group was responsible for selling UOP's FCC, alkylation and oxygenates technologies worldwide. This included feasibility and revamp studies.

Worked with the R&D Dept to identify technology development avenues and to develop sales and marketing materials for the various technologies. This required a good understanding of the technologies.

Was also responsible for the highly successful initial marketing and sales campaign for the ISAL Process for FCC gasoline desulphurization, a joint development with PDVSA-Intevep.

Responsible for licensing UOP's processes into Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Syria and United Arab Emirates. Major accounts included Saudi Aramco and ADNOC.

Responsible for all of UOP's input to a client's project from inception, through project development, licensor selection and contract negotiations, to kicking-off the engineering work. As many projects were in "remote" areas, often gave detailed technical presentations on various technologies with no assistance.
Gave a one-day, in-depth Platforming seminar in Cairo, Egypt on his own.

Major projects included: ADNOC's Ruwais Refinery Expansion Project, Nasr Petroleum Company's Hydrocracking Complex, Assiut Oil Refining Company's LPG Production Project.

Developed and maintained strong links with Saudi Aramco, ADNOC and UOP's Egyptian customers enabling UOP to be better positioned to take advantage of the business opportunities presented by these clients. Initiated a preferred customer arrangement with Saudi Aramco in order to better position UOP as Saudi Aramco's preferred technology supplier.

Responsible for effectively marshalling UOP's resources in support of projects. This was very effective in respect of the ADNOC Ruwais Refinery Expansion Project and ensured UOP's success. UOP managed to persuade ADNOC to switch their naphtha reforming licensor preference from IFP to UOP.

Organized UOP's Technology Conference in Abu Dhabi in 1995.

Licensing Coordinator primarily responsible for providing Head Office assistance to UOP's licensing activities in the Middle East. Was also directly responsible for UOP's licensing activities to US based, Middle Eastern clients.

Was primarily responsible for licensing UOP's processes to Saudi Aramco for the Ras Tanura Upgrade Project. Established close links with Saudi Aramco Project Team and their contractor, Brown & Root Braun.

Another large project he handled, which unfortunately did not proceed, was the Bahrain Refinery Modernization Project, which involved not only dealing with the Bahrain Refinery but also with Caltex. In both cases he led in-depth technical and commercial discussions with the client.
