Personal Profile
I began working for Precision Drilling in Canada in the spring of 1992.
By 1995 I had been promoted to Driller and by 1997, I began working as a Directional Drilling Supervisor for Sperry Sun. I spent my first 3 years as a Directional Driller In Canada and continued on to consult internationally as a Senior Directional Drilling Supervisor from 2000 to 2005.
In January of 2005, I returned to Canada and began consulting as a day Drilling-Supervisor on various Canadian drilling projects.
In the spring of 2008 I began consulting as a Drill Site Manager for Occidental of Oman in the Middle East.
In the fall of 2008, I accepted a position as Drill Site Manager for Chevron of Venezuela.

I am confident and comfortable in my role as a Drill-site Manager and would make a valuable addition to any drilling team.

Consultant for Chevron of Venezuela (Land)

I am currently consulting for Chevron in Venezuela. We are drilling 8000' wells with 2 strings of casing and then screens in the 10 ¼" production hole with a gravel pack completion. The rig is a 1500hp Top-drive equipped "cyber-rig". I am working on my Spanish skills and am learning "rig-Spanish" quickly.

2008 Drill Site Manager
Consultant for Occidental of Oman (Land)

In 2008, I worked 120 days for Oxy in the Omani desert. I drilled medium-radius horizontal wells to a depth of +/- 9,000 ft. The wells generally consisted of 3 strings of casing from 13 3/8" to 9 5/8" to 7" liner and a barefoot 6 1/8" Lateral section. Anadrill was utilized for the directional services and we used their rotary steerable systems whenever possible. The wells were completed with a basic gas lift completion. I am very comfortable with these types of wells due to my extensive horizontal / directional experience

2005 – 2008 Drill Site Manager
Consultant for Magus Engineering and various Canadian operators (Land)

In Canada, I supervised the drilling of 35-50 wells per year. I worked full time as a Drilling Supervisor in Canada from the Spring of 2005 to the Spring of 2008. I have consulted for various Canadian oil companies on a per-well basis and also for Magus Engineering on extended oil-sands projects.

I have supervised the drilling of extended-reach horizontal producers in the Alberta oil-sands for Bronco Energy to +/- 2900m.

I have also supervised the drilling of numerous exploration and production gas wells, often highly deviated and generally to a depth of 1500 – 2300m. They take anywhere from 10 days to 3 weeks per well. I have drilled up to 10 of these per year for Arapahoe, Spry Energy, Arcan, Success Energy, Apache Energy Corp. etc.

I have also supervised a fair amount of oil-sands development work. A lot of the oil-sands work has been exploratory, i.e.. relatively shallow Core holes which are plugged and abandoned. They take 3 - 5 days per well and I have drilled up to 30 of these wells in a year for North American Oil sands Corporation, Bounty Developments, Dual Exploration Inc. and others.

Previous to taking a position as Drilling Supervisor, I spent 8 years as a Directional Drilling supervisor. As a Directional Driller, I drilled every type of deviated well imaginable to depths as deep as 4500m. In this role, I always worked very closely with the well-site supervisors as well as Drilling Engineers and often encountered and solved drilling problems not directly related to the directional aspect of the well. The transition from DD to Drilling Supervisor for me felt natural thanks in part to the experience I gained by moving from rig to rig, well to well and being exposed to many varied drilling environments.
My Directional Drilling experience has taken me all over the world, Most of this experience is land based but I have drilled off-shore on jack-ups, semis and barge assisted rigs. In my 8+ years as a Directional Driller, 7 of them as a Senior Supervisor, I have drilled all types of directional and horizontal wells such as SAGD multilaterals in the Omani desert, fishbone multilaterals in Russia, deep off-shore directional wells in the Gulf of Thailand, deep horizontals on the Kuwait-Iraqi border, short-radius horizontals off the coast of Dubai, deep rotary steerables off-shore Sable Island - Nova Scotia, and extended-reach horizontals in the Alberta oilsands.

This was the beginning of my directional exposure as we were drilling deviated wells on pads for most of my time as a driller.
