In the early years I consistently cross-trained in surveying, survey engineering, acoustics, navigation, geophysics, hydrography, etc, and developed a good understanding of the core techniques used. I have worked as surveyor, survey engineer, observer, underwater engineer, acoustics engineer/surveyor, etc. I have been involved in job pre-planning, vessel mobilisations and calibrations, ongoing offshore projects, reporting/charting, etc

I recent years I have moved on from surveyor/engineer to more senior roles as Party Chief, Client Representative and Project Manager - I retain a good working knowledge of the systems, software, and techniques in use, and continue to keep my knowledge current. These more senior roles have familiarised me with the contractual aspects of survey jobs and given me an awareness of the commercial side of the business. I have been involved in the on-the-job implementation and maintenance of various HSE regimes.
