OVERVIEW

•    March, 1991 to till date - Working as Superintending Engineer (Civil) at Institute of Engineering and Ocean Technology (IEOT), MRBC, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), Navi Mumbai. ONGC is a premier integrated oil & gas company owned by government of India. IEOT provides analysis and design solutions and services for supervision during detailed Engineering, fabrication and installation carried out by Turnkey contractors of offshore platforms and submarine pipelines for ONGC and outside clients.

My responsibilities include analysis, design, fabrication and installation supervision of offshore platforms, onshore process facilities and submarine pipelines for the disciplines of Structural, Foundation engineering and Submarine Pipelines as part of multi disciplinary teams leading a team of 10 for managing EPC contracts.

•    25 th July, ‘85 to March ’91 - Project and Sr. Project Engineer (Civil) at CRBC, ONGC, Calcutta. The assignments handled are Construction of Regional Computer center, residential flats, onshore drilling facilities, process plants and roads. The responsibilities included budgeting, interaction with the consultants and local government, estimation, preparation of tender documents, bid evaluation, contract finalization, site supervision, contractual payments, and arbitration.
•    February, ‘84 to June ‘85 - Site civil engineer for supervision of construction of foundations, superstructure and steel girders for a private company at a Steel Plant.

Offshore Projects

•    Team Leader for Basic Engineering, evaluation of Technical Bids and Review of Detailed Engineering of 13 platforms of 6 different projects off western and Eastern India offshore fields for ONGC: I-MNTW, S1-Sands, HX-HY, GS 15-4-GS 23-1, ZA, MNW- Turnkey Project cost varying between Rs. 1000.0 millions to 3800 millions.

•    Team Leader for Supervision of fabrication of Jacket and piles and load out of Jackets at MDL yard for platforms for ONGC– HX & HY well platforms – Approval of QA/QC plans for various module fabrication, Checking of shop drawings w.r.t. AFC drawings and fabrication detailing, Material tracing and inspection of fabrication material, Handling of Design Change Requirements during fabrication works, Fit-up inspection and dimensions control, Visual inspection of welds and quality control through NDT like MPI, UT and RT, Inspection of surface preparation & protective coating, Weight control during fabrication and Checking before load out.

•    Team Leader for review of installation engineering and installation supervision of 5 platforms of different projects - Qualification of marine spread for platform installation, coordination for 3rd party certification for installation including for pile refusal cases for ONGC.

•    Team leader for Design of two infield Submarine Pipeline routes using PLUS-ONE – HX-HY.

•    Team leader for Design of remedial measures and trouble shooting for free span correction works of 36” SBHT trunk line along with shore protection works across Mindhola river.

•    Conceptual studies, Feasibility studies (DFRs) and basic design for 7 marginal field locations of western and eastern offshore India for ONGC as part of 4 different projects. Out of these, two Monopod platforms were installed in eastern offshore recently. These assignments were carried out as member of Multi Disciplinary Task Forces (MDT) set up at the behest of Ex CMD. Hence, lot of interaction had taken place with Geo-scientists, Reservoir and Process Engineers.

•    Team Leader for Conceptual and feasibility studies for seven well platforms of Bombay High Redevelopment Project for ONGC as part of a single project.

•    Team Leader for Conceptual studies, Feasibility studies and Basic Design of Triopod platform (well platform) for one marginal field location for M/s Cairn Energy India Pvt. Limited, a joint venture operator, operating in East coast off India - RH Platform.

•    Team leader for Jack Up penetration analyses for Jack up rigs for about 50 locations for ONGC.

•    Team Leader for Laboratory soil testing, evaluation of design parameters, Engineering analysis and preparation of soil investigation reports for 20 jacket platforms and 4 submarine pipeline routes.

Onshore Projects

•    Team leader for Bid package preparation, Review of Detailed Engineering and troubleshooting during construction for onshore process facilities for various regions of ONGC. Two projects had been successfully commissioned for SRBC. Two are ongoing for two different assets of ONGC.

•    Team leader for Soil investigation for LPG plant & storage tanks and well platform – RH and submarine pipelines (Ravva field) for M/s Cairn Energy India (CEIL), joint venture operator.

•    Team leader for Basic Engineering and review of detailed engineering of Foundation for LPG plant and crude oil storage tanks including design of granular piles for M/S CEIL.

•    Team leader for Soil investigation for Cable Stayed Bridge across the sea within Bombay for M/s Maharashtra Road Development Corporation Limited.

•    Team leader for Soil investigation and design review of structures and foundations (STADD III) including trouble shooting during piling operations and diaphragm wall construction for two projects of multi-storeyed building construction of ONGC at Mumbai.

•    Team leader for Design of foundation for cold flare tower of 50.0 m height for Uran plant

•    Design of rig and ancillary equipment foundations for several onshore drilling locations of various assets.

•    Design of structures and foundations for Base Complex Structures of ONGC in Vishakhapatnam Port Trust Area on Reclaimed Land.

R & D Projects

•    Project Manager for Technology Up-gradation under NORAD (Norwegian Govt.) funding for “Analysis of pile foundations for a deep water jacket structure”, “Dimensioning of bucket foundations for a Jacket structure” and “Dimensioning of piled anchors & suction anchors (Deep water foundations) for a floating production vessel” – Project Cost – NOK 2.75 Millions.

•    Project Manager for Technology Up-gradation under the grant-in-aid of Oil Industry Development Board, Govt. of India for “Soil Structure Interaction of Deep water foundations - Suction caissons using SAGE CRISP 3D and FEMAP software”. – Project Cost – Rs. 108.0 lakhs.
