Curriculum Vitae

CAREER OBJECTIVE
Senior geoscientist in the petroleum industry
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
    Block review of Peloponnesos/Epirus (2002):
The drilled areas were in south and north west of Greece. Compiled pre-drilling, drilling and post-drilling activities. Presented and explained results and then suggested future prospects.
    Palaeogeographic reconstruction of the Palaeozoic Mediterranean (2001):
Integrated published papers into an estimate of lithology and thickness of sub-Mesozoic strata with the focus on current and future plays in western Greece.
    Report on the oil exploration potential of the Greek territory: (1998 to January 2001)
A volumetric survey of existing fields was followed with a discovery/failure analysis of existing well data to suggest attractive areas for hydrocarbon exploration in the territory surrounding Enterprise’s Greek leases.
    Oil maturation studies of the Epirus region of north-western Greece (2000):
Collated and evaluated oil seeps data from reports on western Greece. Estimated the exhumation and maximum burial depth using compaction methodology.
    Study of the Cretaceous-Eocene Geology (2000):
Interpreted seismic sections from Albania and Greece to delineate sub-thrust features. To finalise well planning, used published papers from the Mediterranean area (mainly Italy and Albania) to estimate the thickness, categorise drilling hazards, evaluate pressures and estimate water depths. Followed up with field trips, to collect structural data, verify lithology and test thickness predictions.
    Structural study of western Greece evaporites (1999):
Reviewed data on drilled evaporite sections from reports and personal communication. Simulate thrusting of evaporites with the ThrustPack software to predict sub-carbonate thickness and distinguish evaporite lithology (anhydrite vs halite, gypsum).
    Thermo-maturity modelling of western Greece and Albania (1998):
Applied modelling software on the Enterprise Oil database to delineate the timing of hydrocarbon generation and trap formation in sub-thrust carbonates and clastic sections.

Statement Regarding General Qualifications
Essential Skills
•    Develop and maintain constructive contacts and relationships with appropriate authorities at domestic and international levels.
In the period of 1992 to 1997, at the University as a post-graduate and then as a research fellow, I contacted people from the industry in South Australia (Santos Ltd., Boral now Origin Energy, Shell Australia and government energy institutes, such as PIRSA) to build relationships to promote my research. I had to underline the usefulness of my project and encourage the organizations to collaborate and fund the completion and extension of the work.
Since 1998, I have been working as a geologist with Enterprise Oil Ltd. I was, contacting Hellenic Petroleum, MOL (Hungarian Government Company) for assistance and information in meeting our common objectives. Other contacts were with (a) universities in Greece (Aristotelian, and Crete University) to agree to undertake work such as analysis of samples, (b) consulting companies in UK for specific technical problems, (c) service companies for the larger technological and analytical projects, (d) EU institutes, as Enterprise Oil Ltd. liaison for an on-going EU funded project in the Egion area and (e) with colleagues in other companies in London, Houston, Aberdeen, and Stavanger. The last required regular, technically specific and precise communication. In a more general aspect, I have prepared a bilingual booklet (English and Greek) for public relations (media, local authorities, visitors and general use by, the Enterprise Oil public relations consultant, Publicom).
•    Recommend strategies and to take relevant actions in order to effectively support and promote the company’s interests.
I was responsible for construction development decisions made before the drilling period in Peloponnesos and Ioannina areas. I participated and advised the drilling manager on the local peculiarities and the environmental sensitivity of the region. I followed this at the rig site by strongly enforcing the safety rules and coaching the workers to minimize the problems of communication with government officers and reduce delays due to bureaucracy. Oil and gas exploration by an overseas company is uncommon in Greece and a special attitude is necessary. I was especially effective in arranging the use of local people for unskilled labor.
I promoted the company’s activity in domestic (e.g. Union of Geologists, Energy Sector of Ioannina) and international meetings (Aberdeen and Rome Enterprise offices). I prepared and presented the past exploration program and future drilling performance during farm-out negotiations. During those meetings I had to act not only as a scientist but also as public relations officer, since I had to promote and convince our future partners of the optimistic prospectivity of western Greece.
A recent event illustrates my ability for rigorous and rapid action. During the drilling of a well in late 2001, a time critical situation, I had to perform technical calculations to accurately predict well pressures, identify the hazard of over-pressure, then develop a remediation strategy. I searched electronic resources (internet, Enterprise database, communication with colleagues using email in Australia and Greece) in order to estimate the risk from analogous events in other provinces and finally defended my suggestions, for immediate action on how to eliminate the danger, to the drilling team and the joint venture partners.
Desirable Skills
•    Conceptual thinking
I am confident of my ability to think and identify new concepts. I gained this from a very young age when I had to think systematically and broadly in order to efficiently solve problems.
•    Flexibility
I am flexible in my personal relationships, as I believe that this helps to deal better and more productively with partners and employees.
•    Impact and influence
I participated in the oil/gas industry in a variety of projects and meetings and hence I had to defend and even be dogmatic, on occasion, to convince my colleagues and non-company’s people for special and valuable actions towards exploration and drilling necessities. I was member of international clubs in Australia and in Athens. During my participation I planned, suggested and finally committed myself and other members to fulfill our objectives as a community club. I encouraged them to be generally more proactive and catch up with global change and new ideas.
•    Relationship building competencies
I have excellent relationships with my past and present colleagues, employees and employers. Currently, although I have not seen them for a long time, I have outstanding friendships with professors and fellow students from time, in the ‘80s, at my first university. I still respected and have excellent relations with people I met and worked with in early ‘90s during my military service (e.g. my ex-commander). Obviously, I continue my bonds with colleagues (in industry and university) and associates (clubs) during my residence in Australia. Finally and most importantly, in my present environment I have exceptional relationships with colleagues in the Athens’ and the other world-wide offices of Enterprise Oil.
•    Excellent communication and presentation skills
I have presented my personal work, on a diversity of projects, in numerous meetings in Greece and overseas. I used the latest and most up-to-date presentation techniques (please see relevant section in my CV). I am confident in talking to large and multinational audiences.
