Technical Goals
• Generation of new technological concepts based on nano-technology, in the area of petroleum well construction, with operational and economical impact in the order of 60 % to 40 % in comparison with the present technology.
• Technical coordination of multidisciplinary teems integrated by specialists in drilling, completion, cementing, drilling fluids, materials, polymers, production enhancement and optimization, in projects of R&D, in the area of well construction, completion, production optimization and production enhancement.
• Incorporation of far market technology in the company business strategies, as a result of the creation of five R&D projects. Technical coordination of a joint venture project, with an European research center in Germany, achieving the establishment of nano-technology projects for PDVSA.
• Coordination of production problems evaluations in horizontal wells at Petrozuata Fields, Orinoco Belt - East Venezuela, using monitoring techniques at the horizontal section, reservoir characterization data, (including well testing, petrophysics and seismic data) and reservoir-well flow simulations. It was possible to define the optimum technology to be used for work-over operations and the definition of the fish-bond multilateral draining architecture, nowadays implemented.
• Development and implementation of candidate selection methodology for work-over, based on multivariable analysis techniques. Achieving a time reduction of 60% in the candidate process selection with an optimization of the economical resources used for work-over operations.
• Computer software development for simulation of new down-hole heating technology (based on nano-technology).
• Implementation of Screen-Less Completion at West Venezuela, (Santa Rosa Field), to prevent sand production, achieving a 100% reduction in sand production in the wells where it was applied.
• Implemented and evaluated new technologies in order to select application areas and marketing strategies.
• Technical support and development of computer programs in areas related to crude oil production. Reduced crude oil transport pipelines designs costs by 70 %, through the use of developed programs. Temblador - Caripito 150 Km pipeline – East Venezuela.
• Leaded teams work for simulation programs development in multiphase flow in piping networks, and transient phenomenon like non-isothermal crude oil batches transport.
• Coordinated teams work for large pipes thermo-hydraulic designs and technical-economical evaluations of crude oil transport in projects between PDVSA, MOBIL, ARCO, CONOCO and TOTAL, East Venezuela.
• Evaluation of water-hammer effect in the re-engineering project for the principal crude oil shipping port in Venezuela -JOSE - which handles 900 MBD.
• Designed and implemented computer programs for gas-lift optimization in Maracaibo Lake gas injection piping networks, with a 40% efficiency increase.
• Technical-economical evaluations in non-conventional crude oil and gas transport methods.
• Hydraulic fracture design and execution in the East and West of Venezuela with a pre-treatment production increase between 2 to 3 times the original well production.
• Evaluation of work-over techniques, production enhancement treatments and completion options, including the technical feasibility of commingled production, in a mature light crude oil field “Pato Field”, East Venezuela.
