DETAILS OF PROF.EXPERIENCE :

2001- present : Toyo Engineering Corporation , Chiba , Japan : Working on BASF China's OXO project. Responsible for In Tools set up for Instrument Index, Process data & Loop wiring modules. Prior to that worked on Russian Polysterene Project and Russian Refinery expansion - Hydrocracker (UOP Process) & Visbreaker units (FW/UOP Process). Responsibilities included bid evaluation and order placement for high value items.

1996 - 2001 : Larsen & Toubro Ltd., Mumbai,INDIA, Senior Manager Instrumentation
Responsible for Project management including engineering, procurement and execution of Electrical & Instrumentation in Oil and Gas Group for various lump sum turnkey projects and proposals for ONGC & IOCL. Instrumentation scope included DCS/PLC, F&G and CP systems, control/relief valves, turbine meters and orifice assemblies. Worked on HRC Process platform which was commissioned and handed over to ONGC six months ahead of schedule. Main achievements included cost savings of 200,000 US$ in DCS/PLC & F&G systems. Developed pipeline custody transfer system for crude oil flow measurement by replacing Barton turbine meter internals with shrouded rotors (rim type) for better accuracy and maintenance. Redesigned main oil discharge system to cover wide variation in trunk line pressure by developing a control scheme consisting of discharge pressure measurement and reduced trim for control valve. Last two activities were done post commissioning. Independently handled Instrumentation modernization jobs for topside modifications for ONGC (PPM & CRMP-II projects) involving 25 wellhead platforms in Bombay High offshore field.

1991 - 1996 : Foster Wheeler Energy Ltd. READING, UNITED KINGDOM.              Senior Control & Instrumentation Engineer.

1994 -1996 : Worked on a grassroots aromatics project for Singapore Aromatics Company. Responsible for design and detailed engineering of Emergency Shutdown Systems using TRICONEX TMR PLCs. Main achievements included development of system philosophy, preparation of specifications and requisitions, bid analysis, preparation of cause & effects and functional logic diagrams for compressors, fired heaters, boilers etc. Prepared a turnkey Proposal (jointly with CHIYODA) for OMAN LNG project for Shell.

1993 - 1994 :     Worked on FCCU Unit of ESSO Standard Thailand's Sriracha Refinery, Thailand. Responsible for detailed engineering including development of PIDs, compilation of Control & Instrument Database, definition of control system philosophy, sizing & selection of control valves, safety relief valves, orifice assemblies, procurement of instrumentation and control systems using computerised requisitioning.

1991 - 1992 : Worked on Coryton Isomerisation project for Mobil Oil Company Ltd. UK.
Responsible for engineering & procurement of all field instrumentation in general and control valves, relief valves, meter runs, thermowells, vortex meters, flow & temp. transmitters in particular, for modular fabrication. Participated in factory acceptance test for Foxboro's IA DCS. Contributed towards the ahead of schedule and within budget project completion resulting in management appreciation from both Foster Wheeler and MOBIL.

1990 - 1991 :     H & G Engineering. Glasgow, UK. Senior Instrumentation Engineer.

Worked as a Lead instrumentation engineer for a front end package of ELCD plant for NORIT (UK) Ltd, and revamping of 40,000 tpa ABS plant for GE Plastics in Scotland, UK.

1985 - 1990 : Humphereys & Glasgow Engineering Ltd. Bombay , INDIA.

1988 - 1990 :     Lead Instrumentation Engineer
    Led a team of 12 C & I engineers and designers responsible for detailed engineering of 2x80000 tpa LLDPE/HDPE project for Indian Petrochemicals Corporation Ltd. Prepared project standard procedures. Responsible for deployment of manpower, supervision of the task force, project control and reporting. Managed procurement of instrumentation & control systems and system engineering of Honeywell TDC 2000 DCS.TECHNIP France were the turnkey contractors. Successful and timely completion of this prestigious project was rewarded by a promotion to Senior engineer position and deputation to Glasgow (Scotland office) in the United Kingdom .

1985 - 1988 :     Instrumentation Engineer
    Worked with a senior engineer on Hydrogen Peroxide project for Thai Peroxide Ltd. Main activities included preparation of cost & manpower estimates, system engineering & inspection of Yokogawa's CENTUM DCS. Prior to that worked on various projects like Gujarath Heavy Chemical's soda ash plant, Modi Cement's 1 mtpa cement plant, Century Enca's polyester plant. Preparation & checking of instrument loop diagrams, layouts & cable schedules, hook up drawings & MTOs using CAD & MICROS, system engineering for Allen Bradley PLC-2, Instrument testing and inspection, Instrument installation, calibration and pre-commissioning.

1982 - 1985 : Engineers India Ltd New Delhi, INDIA.
    Assistant Instrument Engineer
    Participated in oil & gas exploration activities (both onshore & offshore) after successful completion of 1 years Management Training Program for Graduate Engineer Trainees.
