SENIOR RESERVOIR CHARACTERIZATION PETROPHYSICIST

Responsibilities include:
• Conduct detailed petrophysical studies within a multidisciplinary team to support and improve reservoir characterization, applying state of the art petrophysical interpretation techniques, to build and update petrophysical models. Cores, seismic and special logs are used to describe the reservoirs.
• Petrophysicist for 34 development and 6 appraisal wells, including a horizontal well, over last two years, resulting in an increase of reserves of 30 MMBLS of oil.
• Carried out quality control of the petrophysical model of Lama Norte field, integrated study, done by Corelab in the years 2001 and 2002.
• Based on integrated studies exploitation plans are defined, and field development activities (about 20 locations yearly) are sustained. The Lagomedio unit produces approximately 72,000 BOPD from 300 wells. There are about 400 inactive wells.
• Identify, evaluate and implement new and emerging technologies aimed at improving interpretation methods to enhance reservoir characterization.

BITCA/INPELUZ (CONTRACTED BY PDVSA,S.A), MARACAIBO, VENEZUELA
SENIOR PETROPHYSICIST

Responsibilities included:
• Member of a multidisciplinary team responsible for studying the reservoirs VLC-1068, B-6-X-55, Bach-24, Bach-56, B-9-X and VLA-16, and making recommendations for future development. As a result of the study, VLC-1068 and B-6-X-55 reservoirs were unified, as well as B-9-X and VLA-16
• Analyzed and interpreted logs, cores, production data and well history of 144 wells of Mara Este field to characterize the fracture reservoirs (Cretaceous and Basement), and contributed to prepare 10 workover proposals. After the wells repair, the production increased 2,500 BOPD during the year 1999.
• Participated in Mara Este Field integrated study done by the Bureau of Economics Geology (BEG) of the University of Texas, Austin, TX and Inpeluz of the University of Zulia (LUZ), (March 1999 to December 1999.

FEBRUARY 1997 – DECEMBER 1998
BAKER HUGHES E&P SOLUTIONS, CIUDAD OJEDA, VENEZUELA
INTEGRATED SOLUTIONS ENGINEER

Responsibilities included:
• Prepared integrated studies, with others E&P Solutions Professionals, to formulate proposals of integrated services for horizontal wells and other bids. Examples, Orocual field (PDVSA, S.A) and Cerro Negro (Bitor). 8 horizontal re-entry proposals were presented in each case.
• Geologist of the Galileo II Project (under balance drilling) for PDVSA, S.A (December 1997 to December 1998), responsible for the selection of all candidates of the project. Four wells were drilled during 1998.
• Analyzed and interpreted the MWD (MPR) logs of 20 horizontal wells, drilled for PDVSA, S.A. in La Salina and Bachaquero districts (March 1997 to December 1998) and recommended their completion.

• Recommended petrophysical (Wireline, LWD and Core) data acquisition program on more than 200 development, 20 appraisal, and 10 cored wells of Lagocinco, Lagotreco, Ceuta and Barua – Motatan exploitation units, and accomplished quality control, interpretation and evaluation of these data, to facilitate development plans and long term studies.
• Conducted petrophysical interpretation, for individual wells and fields, using computer software applications (Workstation and PC based), to quantify the petrophysical characteristics of the reservoirs, to improve knowledge of the reservoirs, and to quantify reserve estimates and reservoir performance.
•Assisted in the planning of suitable well locations and in the preparation of well prognosis. Contributed into well proposals preparation and integrated well evaluation.
• Maintained the company at the forefront of petrophysical developments (tools, interpretation techniques), and recommended the appropriate use of these developments to fully understand and manage the reservoirs.
• Coaching and mentoring of Junior Petrophysicists in line with the staff development plans.
