Accountable for company's Offshore Business Unit with 100+ technical and operations employees, operating several fields offshore California and associated onshore processing plants, FERC and CPUC regulated oil pipeline systems, and coastal real estate. Accountable for acquisitions, mergers, and new venture business development. Developed strategies and led evaluation, due diligence, and negotiations of several large acquisitions domestically and internationally, including CBM, exploration, and development. Successfully acquired over $150 MM of assets. Most notable was the 1999 acquisition of Chevron's Santa Barbara Channel assets including 3 offshore fields and multiple exploration prospects, coastal real estate, oil and gas processing facilities, and pipeline systems. Identified and evaluated international acquisitions and merger opportunities. Acquired Unocal's interest in a 650,000 acre exploration block in Argentina and led merger discussions with Argentine and Canadian companies. Evaluated and negotiated sale of company's Santa Barbara headquarters office and monetization of coastal real estate.

Responsible for integrating the acquired Chevron Santa Barbara Channel assets into Venoco's operations. Established technical and operations teams. Facilitated the development of initial work plans and budgets. Oversaw hiring, permitting, operations and logistics, engineering, geosciences, and land/business development. Negotiated post-closing issues with Chevron. Achieved a smooth transition of large workforce from Chevron to Venoco. Turned the marginal Sockeye field into Venoco's highest cashflow asset with costs down 35% and production up 25% since the acquisition. This acquisition alone has gained over $100 million net to Venoco and has a significant remaining value to the company.

Led team in evaluation of acquisition/consolidation of large package of Amoco's San Juan Basin gas assets. Led team accountable for exploration, development, and management of large leasehold position in the gas-prone Val Verde Basin and mature Permian Basin oil fields. Accountable for strategic direction, investment decisions, work program execution, land and development acquisitions, alternative financing, and personnel supervision.

Accountable for Conoco's interests in several super-giant non-operated fields under development including Statfjord, Troll, Aasgard, and Snøhvit. Also, responsible for Conoco's operated interests in the Norwegian Sea including Greater Heidrun field appraisal and development planning, seismic acquisition, business development, Chairman of Management Committee for operated licenses. Managed engineering and economic evaluation for company's application in Norway's 15th Exploration Licensing Round including the development of a subsea development cost estimating model. Conoco's Management Committee representative for the Statfjord and satellites fields (Conoco's single largest asset worldwide), Murchison, Heidrun, Smørbukk, Smørbukk Sør, and Snøhvit fields. Served on Technical Committees for Troll, Visund, and Huldra field developments. Evaluated a variety of field development concepts including FPSO, TLP, subsea, GBS, and semi-sub. Participated in formulation of the business strategy for the subsidiary, focusing on the future exploration strategy and business opportunities. Led asset valuation and proposal to management regarding the $70 MM trade of several of Conoco's Norwegian assets with TOTAL in 1993. Evaluated several other acquisition opportunities.

Led development team for the super-giant SW Fateh, Falah and Rashid Fields in the Persian Gulf. Conducted reservoir performance and simulation studies. Evaluated economic potential for two smaller discoveries within Conoco's concession area. Optimized well spacing, evaluated, justified and planned development, waterflood, and gas lift expansion projects. Conducted formation evaluation, reservoir and well performance studies, and commercial recovery evaluations for producing fields and new discoveries.
