SUMMARY:

Extensive experience as an engineer in the electrical, process control, and instrumentation disciplines. Proven ability to be a part and manage integrated technical teams and provide field engineering support and team supervision for startup/acceptance testing, troubleshooting, calibration, and maintenance of complex process electronic/pneumatic instrumentation systems and automated machine controls. Involvement encompasses Manufacturing facilities, Fertilizer, Chemical, and Petrochemical facilities. Experience in applying UL, NEC, NFPA, CSA, and FM codes and IEEE standards.

Electrical experience includes compiling data for calculations and analysis for relay coordination and for selecting and sizing of substations, transformers, switchgear, medium voltage controllers, MCCÂ’s, UPS, batteries, battery chargers, variable frequency drives, emergency generators, conduit, wire, lighting, grounding, and other electrical equipment. Evaluate bids and recommend the selection of equipment. Review completed construction documents for design and code compliance. Check vendor shop drawings for data and project suitability.

Instrumentation experience includes preparing proposals and specifications for instrument systems. Control experience includes analog and digital systems using programmable controllers, distributed control systems and single loop controllers. Experience with programmable Logic controllers: General Electric, Modicon, Allen Bradley, TRIPLEX and Triconex safety shutdown systems. Distributed control systems: ABB MOD 300, Honeywell TDC 3000, and Bailey INFI 90.
Field duties: Inspection and testing I/E equipment. Assisting with construction problems resolution and circuit troubleshooting. Checking and testing ors work for acceptance. Visit vendor facilities to inspect equipment for quality assurance and specification compliance and to witness any required tests.

--Electrical Monitoring System Project for the entire Exxon facility using Versa Max PLCÂ’s and Fiber optics.
--Several projects for Motiva Enterprise Refinery to include Instrumentation and pumps upgrade and new Triconex Safety shutdown systems for the Heavy Crude Oil Unit. Also, working with the plant reliability team to develop reliability improvements/upgrade plans for the plantÂ’s instrumentation/electrical equipment specifications.

Reviewed and stamped Clients expense and Capital projects design packages for compliance with industry and Company standards before issuance for construction. Responsible for the I/E disciplines staffing and work assignments and training young engineers.

ï‚• E/I Supervisor Engineering/Maintenance OxyChem Petrochemicals, Lake Charles, LA March 96-April 98 Managed the Instrument/Electrical Department. Provided expertise to facilitate expeditious repairs, technical problem solving, acceptable troubleshooting techniques and other technical guidance. Provided support to capital projects in the area of scoping, engineering, procurement, construction and inspection of all I/E equipment being introduced to the plant. Responsible for the daily coordination with Operations and others for all I/E maintenance activities. Carry 'after-hours' Standby Duties involving 'call-outs' to faults and general problems. Managed a 30 days turnaround that included maintenance repairs, Debottlenecking Project and upgrade the plant DCS Bailey Net 90 system to a Bailey INFI 90 system and replace all compressors hardwired interlocks with Modicon 984 PLC systems

 Site E/I Engineer at ICI Americas, Chemical Division St. Gabriel, LA April 95 – March 96 Responsible for all I/E engineering activities on site. Provided daily support for the maintenance I/E group. Provided project support for the Debottlenecking project (52MM) with Raytheon Engineering in Tampa, FL. Which included a major electrical addition to the power system, (A 25MVA, 138kv/13.8kv Substation, 13.8kv, 4.16kv and 480v distribution systems), (16) new Variable Frequency Drives, a UPS system, an additional 800 new instruments, a Honeywell DCS 3000 system upgrade, and a new Triplex SSD2000 safety shutdown system. Supervised the successful I/E construction, commissioning and start-up phase of the Project with a work force of 250 - 300 I/E employees during a 12 weeks shutdown. Generated the switching and isolation procedures for all electrical equipment on the site.

Created, revised, edited, and developed instrumentation and electrical engineering design, installation, construction, and inspection standards.
