PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Dec Jan. 2004 - Present, Synergy Technology Co., Athens, Greece
Technical Professional Consultant
Analyzed drilling, logging and production data, to select candidate wells for intervention operations. Designed optimized production enhancement treatments (hydraulic fracturing). Conducted personnel training on optimized design, safe and effective placement of treatments, using advanced 3D, real-time analysis and evaluation techniques and systems, in W. Siberia, Russia for Major Oil Companies
Aug. 2000 - Dec 2003 and Dec. 1981 - Dec. 1992, Halliburton Energy Services (HES), Duncan, OK, USA
Technical Professional
Worked in all geographical and reservoir environments (USA, Egypt, Greece, the Netherlands, Italy, United Kingdom, Angola and Russia) and on many types of operations projects which required creativity and innovation, and which had positive operational and financial results:
- Designed, supervised and or analyzed over 300 Hydraulic Fracture treatments (2001-03) including unique coal frac job which was done inside a coal mine in Belgium, which resulted in government decision to develop the gas with wells drilled from the surface after mines were closed.
- Designed and supervised numerous matrix acidizing treatments.
- Experienced in Frac Pack Completions and Operations, unique 100 mesh sand job in the N. Sea, which resulted in decision to proceed with development of shallow gas wells.
- Creative solutions to unique problems: Formation damage problem in Gulf of Suez well caused by anti-foam additive in the diesel completion fluid. Designed surface manifold (patented in the UK) which allows multi-stage Fracture Acidizing without stopping. Re-aligned and repaired parted casing of geothermal well in Italy.
- Designed many wellbore clean-out procedures utilizing Nitrogen foam and coil tubing. Wells went back in operation at record time and reduced costs.
- Extensive experience in well cementing operations: casing, liner, squeeze, balanced plug,, lightweight (N2 foam, glass beads), expanding, etc. Majority of jobs had very good CBL, and minimum annular gas problems.
- Developed training material and conducted internal and external training courses in hydraulic fracturing design, real-time monitoring and analysis. Utilized the Fracpro 3D Fracture Simulation System. Clients were very satisfied. The evaluations were very positive. The trainees have able to improve operations by reducing costs and improving production.
- Prepared training material and trained personnel on the proper analysis and evaluation of the Rate step-down-test, which when done and analyzed properly eliminates premature treatment terminations.
- Conducted numerous well tests while assigned to Well Testing Dept. for one year.
- Re-designed marketing brochures for downhole tools, which included quarter cut-outs and specifications. These brochures are the standard used today. Marketing was up scaled. Company image improved.
- Sealed-off artesian water well in Italy, which was placed on production by explosives used in seismic exploration. Successful operation prevented: bad publicity, flooding of adjacent farmland, lawsuit for damage to rice crops. Saved considerable financial resources.
- Solved many extremely difficult lost circulation problems, which occurred during drilling operations (well could not be maintained full). Drilling resumed and offshore rig costs (50,000/day) were saved.
- Prepared numerous high quality technical proposals and cost estimates, which were priced correctly and won the contract work in the bidding process.
- Authored numerous design and analysis reports (all are confidential or proprietary).
- Maintained daily contact with clients
- Conducted materials testing for cementing, fracturing, acidizing, and prepared lab reports.
- Managed the company operations in Greece from 1990-91, with the highest field operating profit (86% ) whereas many company operations in Europe, Africa and M. East showed 5-30 profit or losses.
- Negotiated and executed 3 two-year service contracts in Greece: Cementing, Stimulation and Well Testing.
Aug 1999 - May 2000, National Exchange Carrier Association (NECA), Whippany, NJ, USA
Manager - Demand Databases
- Managed and analyzed the Tariff Element Tracking Database, using the SAS Software. Database used to set the tariffs charged by 1400 independent telephone companies in the USA.
- Utilized Geographical Information Systems (GIS), MapInfo/Map Basic and the FCC's Synthesis Proxy Model to determine how the FCC policy of forward-looking cost mechanism will affect the Universal Service Fund (USF) receivables of client telephone companies.
-Wrote ANSI Basic Computer programs, used to create user configurable telephone network maps, and also estimate the cost of upgrading the network for Universal Broadband Internet Service.
June 1993 - July 1999, Resources Engineering Systems (RES), Cambridge, MA, USA
Technical Consultant
- Consulted with clients worldwide on the design, execution and analysis of hydraulic fracturing treatments.
- Incorporated data handling and analysis feature in Fracpro, which automated the Rate Step-down Test in Fracpro. This analysis is necessary for proper Net-Pressure matching, and is in standard use worldwide.
- Trained personnel on the use of the Fracpro 3D System at various Operating and Service Companies: Pemex, INTEVEP (PEDVESA), Halliburton, Western Co, BJ Services, Agip, Wintershall, RWE-DEA, etc.
- Conducted perforation and near-wellbore friction study on 36 horizontal well fracturing treatments in the Dan Field, N. Sea, for Maersk Oil Co. which resulted in modification of the fracturing procedures and minimized screen-outs in soft chalk formations.
- Principal systems analyst for CementPro program. Incorporated unique returns analysis feature. This feature not available in competing software yet is the only credible way to analyze casing cementing operations.
- Contributed to establish and enhance Fracpro's market-leading position.
- Conducted pre/post sales marketing and technical support for Fracpro.
- Managed the company trade show marketing effort.
- Co-authored SPE Paper 28565, and assisted in the preparation of two published technical papers.
Aug 1979 - Dec 1981, N-Y Associates, Consulting Engineers, Metairie, LA, USA
Project Engineer
- Designed large civic projects for Municipal and Regional Governments).
- Prepared project specification cost estimates and construction contact documents.
- Presented projects in public forums to obtain financing and environmental approval.
