Owens corning India Limited is a fully automated 30,000/- TPA glass fiber manufacturing unit. I have been employed with this company since the project start up.
During the design and execution of the project I had the opportunity to work in association with the Engineers from Owens corning USA and Tata Consulting Engineers (Project Consultants) as Project Manager, Electrical. This gained me acquaintance with the systems of ABB, Siemens, Allen Bradley, &Foxboro.
Presently I am holding independent responsibility of the operation and maintenance of the entire Electrical and Control system, leading a group of Engineers to execute Preventive, Predictive, Corrective and Breakdown maintenance activities in the plant. I am responsible for the spares, and inventory control also.
I am also responsible for the operation and maintenance of all the Utilities systems required for the plant. Centrifugal Chillers ( 1800 TR) for the air conditioning, Air- Compresors, DM water plant, Boiler House, Water supply, Fuel ( Propane, LSHS & LDO )
Additional to the above I am responsible for the efficient energy management. I have Implemented several energy saving projects, with saving so far above Rs.100,00,000/- in 5 years.
The major projects were optimization of Chiller performance, Air compressor usage optimization, Energy saving using Variable frequency drives, Power factor improvement, and efficient utilization of Electrical energy by monitoring and controlling the usage of Energy.

* 220KV substation consisting of two 20 MVA 220/11kv transformer with on load tap changer, SF6 circuit breaker, Control and relay system.
* Indoor Siemens make Unitized substations of 5MVA each- 3 nos, with air circuit breakers and 7 MVA –1 no, with vacuum circuit breakers.
* Testing and commissioning of Load break switches.
