COMPUTER SKILLS
Ø PC: Microsoft Windows 98 & 2000
Ø PC: MSOffice 97 & 2000.
Ø Workstation: Trained in UNIX workstation environments of SUN Solaris / Ultra30 / IBM RS6000 and SGI Octane. Had worked on LandMark software (Zmap+, Stratamodel, Openworks, etc.) and Schlumberger GeoQuest software (CPS3, Stratlog, Finder, etc.).
Ø Mainframe: Extensively worked using PRIME Disc Operating System (PRIMOS), its Editor and the related geological software (ISM mapping, GDS drafting, etc.)
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
June 1978 – August 2001 Kuwait Oil Company Kuwait
Senior Geologist
October 1995 - August 2001
Ø Responsible for development geology of the oil fields in the Partitioned Neutral Zone (between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia) and in charge of regional exploration studies.
Ø Monitor the development drilling wells, build the geological database, delineate - using geophysics and geology - the geometry of known reservoirs through sequence stratigraphy, maps/sections/3D perspectives, review the influx of water using petrophysics, and estimate their initial OIP volumetrically.
Ø Integrate geologic model with reservoir simulation model of oil reservoir. Define the stratigraphy and structure of the exploration prospects, generate play fairway maps, assess prospects using Monte Carlo simulation and economic analysis, and recommend drilling exploratory wildcats. Involved in 1998 discovery of Jurassic oil reservoir, Humma Field.
June 1978 – October 1995
Ø Field development geology and regional exploration studies (using geophysics and geology) in Kuwait and neighborhood.
Ø Integrated geophysics, sequence stratigraphy and petrophysics with reservoir simulation in KOC development fields. Generated play fairway maps, assessed reservoir potentials, used geochemistry to generate prospects, and recommended wildcat drilling.
Ø Regional geological studies (Kuwait, Saudi Arabia & Iraq), carried out by me during 1978-80, led to the discovery of a number of shallow oil fields, previously unknown, and led to 12 billion barrels addition of heavy oil to the company’s oil reserves.
Sept 1975 - May 1978 Arab Petroleum Consultants Kuwait Senior Geologist
Ø Leading the geological team for complete geophysical, stratigraphical, petrophysical and geological interpretation, and defining the layering scheme of a number of reservoirs in oil fields of Kuwait, Algeria & Abu Dhabi.
Ø Linking the results of geological study with geochemical and reservoir simulation studies, and preparing / presenting geological reports to client oil companies.
Feb 1973 - Sept 1975 Oil India Ltd. New Delhi, India
Technical Advisor to CEO
Ø Advising the Chief Executive on all technical matters relating to oilfields in Eastern India.
Dec 1963 – Jan 1973 Oil India Ltd. Assam, India
Geologist
Ø Conducted studies on correlation, stratigraphy and structure of Pliocene to Oligocene reservoirs in Nahorkatiya and Moran oilfields.
Ø Development and exploration geological studies, release of new locations for drilling, volumetric reserves estimate, drilling/work-over/injection programs.
Ø Forecast of fields production potential and gas availability, well site geology, etc.
Feb 1963 – Dec 1963 B.E. College, Engineering University Calcutta, India
Lecturer (Geology)
TRAINING COURSES
Ø Attended courses in UNIX Operating Systems, e.g. SUN SOLARIS, IBM RISC as well as Silicon Graphics’ proprietary Operating System IRIX.
Ø Courses in application software like Zmap+, Stratamodel, CPS3, Stratlog, Finder, FORTRAN Programming etc. Had also taken courses in Exploration of Carbonate & Sandstone Reservoirs (OGCI), Seismic Stratigraphy (New Horizon), Reservoir Simulation & Its Computer Applications (TS&E), Operations Research (ITC), Operational Management (URWICK), Advanced Management (URWICK), Prospect Evaluation (BP), Seals and Traps Workshop (TOTALFINA ELF).
PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS
Ø Active Member of American Association Of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) since 1980.
Ø Past Member of National Geographic Society (Washington DC, USA) till 2000.
