1. Metallurgist / Floor Incharge (Jul. '87 to Nov.'87)
Worked as a "Metallurgist / Floor Incharge" in a steel foundry involved in the production of Precision Casting through Lost Wax Process.
Responsibilities included:
1.1 Machine Shop: Supervision of machine shop consisting of lathe machines, shapers and grinding machines producing moulds for wax patterns.
1.2 Furnace Section: Supervision of operation & maintenance of following types of furnaces
1.2.1 High Frequency Induction steel melting furnace.

2. Assistant Engineer (Transmission) Jan.'88 to Jul.'93
Joined Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd. as an Assistant Engineer in its Transmission Department. It is a large, internationally renowned gas pipeline company involved in the construction and operation of high and low pressure Transmission and Distribution pipeline networks. During this tenure, I had worked in the Transmission Department of the Company, posted at Head Office and reporting for duties directly to the Chief Engineer (Transmission) and the General Manager (Transmission). During this period, short, On-the-job training programs at various installations such as Compressor stations, Purification Plant, etc. were also attended by me.
Responsibilities included:
2.1 Day to day correspondence with other departments of the Company and various outside agencies over operation related matters.
2.2 Acquiring and compiling various types of data / information pertaining Gas Control, Gas Sales, including Unaccounted For Gas, Pipeline Operations And Gas Compression Systems.
2.3 To carry out studies on Corrosion related matters & problems such as pipeline ruptures as a result of material failure due to Stress Corrosion Cracking, etc. This job was especially assigned to the undersigned keeping in view the undersigned being:-
2.3.1 Very well-conversant with the corrosion detection, prevention / control and / or inhibition techniques & systems including coating & wrapping, cathodic protection through sacrificial as well as impressed current methods / systems.
2.4 To provide specialized technical advice such as installation of "Discharge Gas Cooling" system at the down stream of the Compressor Stations to avoid "Stress Corrosion Cracking" of pipeline material.
2.5 Monitoring of loans such as Energy Sector Loans granted by the World Bank / other such international financing agencies and being spent on various system upgrading and efficiency improvement projects undertaken by the Transmission, Distribution, Projects (Pipeline Construction) and telecommunication Departments of the Company.
2.6 Preparation of technical specifications of various types of equipment and material such as Orifice meters, Valves, Welding fittings, etc. Also involved in preparation of material take-off and pricing statements for different projects.
2.7 To carry out technical evaluation of the bids and / or proposals submitted by the manufacturers, suppliers, vendors & contractors for the supply of equipment, material & execution of jobs / projects on turn-key basis.
2.8 Involved in the preparation / verification of gas sales & purchase contracts.
2.9 Involved in the pre-qualification process for manufacturers, suppliers, vendors and contractors for the supply of equipment, material and execution of jobs / projects.
2.10 Preparation of Departmental annual, revenue as well as capital budget proposals.
2.11 Preparation of progress and statistical reports.
2.12 Co-ordination among various Departments of the organization in operational matters.
2.13 Operation of personal computer system for all the above noted jobs using various software packages such as:

3. Transmission Engineer (Aug.'93 to Aug.'94)
Since, I had been promoted against the same seat therefore the job responsibilities were the same as described against Sr. No. 2 above.
4. Distribution Engineer Incharge (Sep.'94 to Oct.'96)
Posted as Distribution Engineer Incharge in one of the distribution Sub-Areas of SNGPL i.e. ATTOCK.
Responsibilities included:
4.1 Overall Sub-Area Engineer Incharge (E.I.C) for the Company's developmental, operational & maintenance activities such as:
4.1.1 Provision of new gas connections to the consumers.
4.1.2 Supervision of laying of distribution mains alongwith their further extensions later on.
4.1.3 Conducting site surveys for Sr. No. 4.1.2 above and preparation of planning reports there-of.
4.1.4 To carry out performance evaluation of contractors.
4.1.5 While posted at SNGPL Distribution Sub-Area Attock, I have also participated in the development of a Gas Network Implementation Plan in association with Nova Corp. of Canada, that consisted of a Needs Assessment, a Strategic Implementation Plan and a Cost-Benefit study relating to the implementation of Network Analysis software at all eight (08) SNGPL regions.
This considerable effort was accompanied by several days of network analysis planning, instruction, document review and plan development. This effort was undertaken by a project team within which I acted as a team member, contributing very valuable input and making the effort to critically review all prepared materials from an administrative, management and technical point of view.
4.2 In addition, administrative in charge of the following sections / departments of the Company:
4.2.1 Sales Department.
4.2.2 Accounts Department.
4.2.3 Billing Department.
4.2.4 Administration Department.
4.2.5 Stores Department.
4.3 Monitoring of expenditure from the approved annual budget.
4.4 To supervise the installation of corrosion prevention facilities such as cathodic protection stations, ground beds etc.
5. Senior Distribution Engineer Incharge (Oct.'96 - Sept.'99)
Promoted as Senior Distribution Engineer Incharge on 17.10.96 against the same post which was upgraded. Since the posting remains the same, job description and responsibilities stay unchanged i.e. same as Sr. No. 4 above.
6. Senior Distribution Engineer Incharge WAH (D) (Oct.'99 - Feb.'00)
Transferred from Sub-Area Attock to Sub-Area Wah (D) as Sr. Distribution Engineer Incharge in the same capacity therefore the responsibilities remain the same as those at Sr. No: 05 above.
7. Senior Distribution Engineer (Operations) (Mar.'00 - Feb.'01)
Transferred from Sub-Area Wah (D) to Islamabad Regional Office as overall Incharge of Operations Department on regional level.
Responsibilities included:
7.1 To look after Company's Operational functions such as:
7.1.1 Consumer Service Centers at the regional level.
7.1.2 Above ground leakage rectification to lower UFG losses.
7.1.3 To check pilferage of gas.
7.1.4 To plan and design operational pipeline phases to counter pressure drop problems on the distribution network through system augmentation.
7.1.5 To adopt methods & develop techniques to counter pressure drop problems through load management during peak load periods.
8. Senior Distribution Engineer (Metering) (Mar.'01 ~ Feb.'04)
Posted as Incharge of the Metering Department in Islamabad region.
Responsibilities include:
8.1 To look after Company's Metering functions such as:
8.1.1 Designing, Operation & Maintenance of TBSs, DRSs, RSs & large capacity CMSs.
8.1.2 Joint Calibration of P / T / F chart recorders at SMSs & CMSs.
8.1.3 Verification / authentication of gas volumes handled through Sales Meter Stations / Consumer Meter Stations.
8.1.4 To settle & finalize volumes of gas against under-billing, over-billing & pilferage cases of Industrial & Commercial consumers.
8.1.5 Designing, Operation & Maintenance of gas measurement & regulation facilities at 180
Nos. (Approx) CNG Stations of Islamabad region. Day to day dealing with their technical and legal problems and to ensure that the CNG Station owners / operators strictly adhere to the applicable safety codes.
9. Dy. Chief Engineer (Distribution) (Mar.'04 to 09.06.2005)
Responsibilities remain the same as Sr. 08 above. However, in addition to these, the following responsibilities have also been added:
9.1 Incharge of Unaccounted for Gas Losses Control Cell.

Transferred to Faisalabad Region and posted as in charge of Development Section at No: 02 position from the top on overall regional basis. The responsibilities mainly include:
10.1 Overall supervision of all the developmental activities such as New Connections,
Laying Of Distribution Network / Gas Mains taking place in the region.
10.2 In charge of Regional Planning & Development / Drawing sections.
