Analysis of Vibration & Failure Problems in Reciprocating Pumps for Oil Pipelines
- Excessive vibration caused repeated failures in the pump components
- Problem analysis/diagnosis to restore the pump reliability to an acceptable level
- Higher speed flow rate creates unnecessary friction losses, and higher suctions pressure drops, which potentially leads to pump cavitation
- When pulsation exists in a system, a negative peak, will subtracted from the static pressure and will reaches the vapour pressure, the fluid will cavitate
- This results in high-pressure spikes as the liquid vaporizes and then collapses as the pressure increases above the vapour pressure
