SIGNIFICANT EXPERIENCE
1) As Lead Engineer, Civil/Structural for Fluor Daniel India Private Limited, New Delhi
Exxon Mobil LSM Project
Low sulfur Mogas Project, Baton Rouge, LA, TIC US$ 250 Million
Worked as Lead Civil/ Structural Engineer for ExxonMobil Low Sulfur Mogas Project in Baton Rouge, Louisiana having a CSA budget of 30,000 man-hours.
During front end engineering, worked in Fluor Daniel's Houston office from March 2001 through January 2002. Responsibilities included preparation of civil/structural cost estimate, preliminary structural design of grass root and offsite facilities, preparation and review of project specifications, preparation and review of RFQ for steel and for drilled piers, review of standard drawings, preparation of survey& trenching requests, and job setup activities.
During detail engineering as the Lead Civil/Structural Engineer in New Delhi, I was responsible for coordinating civil/structural efforts for the main process unit, cooling tower area, flare area, caustic area and a interconnecting rack, Was accountable for developing project scope, cost estimates, manhour estimates, budgets & schedule, resource planning, change management, Monitoring cost (manhour and material ), participate in plot plan review, model review, fire-hazard drawing review addressing fireproofing requirement, Vendor drawing review, establish clear vision of project needs and ensure effective contribution, enhance team performance while maintaining business objectives, technical guidance to team, ensure adherence to work process and quality procedures, preparation of weekly and monthly progress reports, ensure team participation in cost saving initiatives, construction support & client communication to help the company foster a long-term customer relationships.
I was also responsible for pavement design, I was also responsible for checking of exchanger foundation, tall vessel foundation, critical multi level process structures, guyed flare foundation, cooling tower foundation, pipe bridge design calculations. Also prepared pile capacity charts based on bore hole data supplied by geotechnical consultant. The work was carried out as per US codes (AISC ASD, ACI & ASCE).
Through various cost saving ideas a cost saving of US$ 750,000 was achieved on the project.
Shell Athbasca Oil Sands Downstream Project
Primary Process Unit (PPU) consists of A&V Unit 150000 (BPCD), RHC HT Unit 71,610 BPCD, Canada. TIC. $ 2.2 billion.
Worked as Deputy Lead and also as Area Lead for Residue Hydro-Conversion Unit. CSA scope for the New Delhi office was 33,000 man-hours. I was responsible for the design of foundations for tall towers, reactors, exchangers, pumps, and skid mounted equipment. Considerations included addressing winterization issues. I also handled the design of underground pits and the review of rebar & fabrication drawings. I worked out various cost alternatives to arrive at cost optimal solution in consultation with construction.
Irving Oil Refinery Upgrade Project
Upgradation of existing Refinery and addition of other new units, Canada.
Worked as Area Lead for a Sulfuric Acid Regeneration Unit, Alkylation Unit & Sales Acid Unit. The CSA scope for ND was 19,000 man-hours. I was responsible for design of 200' tall DIB tower, tall reactor addressing vortex shedding issues. I also designed a multi-level process structure having a foot print of approx. 4000 sq.ft, a piperack, a neutralization basin, a storage tank foundation & a mat analysis for an acid settler structure.
2) As Senior Engineer, Civil / Structural for L&T-Chiyoda Limited, Vadodara, India
Madras Refineries Limited, India
Sulfur Recovery Unit
Worked as Lead Engineer for sulfur block of Madras Refineries on EPC lump sum turn key basis. Responsibilities included engineering coordination, preparing & monitoring schedule & cost (estimated versus actual), preparation of material & cost summaries, managing project changes, conformance to contractual & quality requirements, preparation of tender document.
Preparation of RFQ for soil Investigation, analyzing soil investigation report including calculation of pile capacities based on borehole data, technical evaluation of vendors, coordination with owner's representative & field assistance during construction.
Design of critical structure like flare stack supporting structure (75m high), incinerator foundation, blower foundation, sulfur pit, sulfur yard, Sour water stripper & Amine tank fdn & buried vessel foundations, design of complete underground system i.e oily water sewer, contaminated rain water sewer, amine blow down & close blow down, firewater & stormwater drains including paving within the process area, site visits for monitoring construction status & suggesting remedial measures to catch-up schedule & sort out construction problems. I was assigned to site for four weeks for expediting laying of underground utilities & for field engineering support.
Qatar Fertilizer Company Limited,Qatar
Urea Hydrolyzer Plant
Preparation of basic engineering design criteria, specifications for concrete construction & structural steel fabrication & erection and all other structural specification required for the project. Design was done in accordance with British code and Qatar National Building Code. The design involved addition of exchangers and vessels in to existing process multi-level structure and carrying out adequacy check of for the same.
Qatar Fuel Additive Company Limited, Doha, Qatar
MTBE Plant
Design of offsite piperack connecting process units approximately 1 mile long, critical equipment like sphere tank foundations, heater foundation, and boiler foundation, water retaining structures, pipe bridges & other static vessel foundations on mat.
Prebid Engineering
Worked for prebid engineering for the EPC lump sum turn key jobs for Ammonia revamp Job, Medicinal oil plant, Ethane propane recovery unit, Hydrogen unit, Diesel hydro desulphurization (DHDS), Fuel oil unit, Sulfur recovery unit, Hydrogen unit & FCC revamp for various client projects. Responsibilities included interpretation of ITB, preparation of requisition for quotation, evaluation of tenders, preparation of deviation list, attending proposal kickoff & review meetings, preparation of man-hour estimate for proposal, basis for civil/structural/architectural estimates, proposal write-up such as scope of work, scope of facilities, execution plan, participation in client presentation & interview.
3) As Engineer (Grade-1), Civil/Structural for Bhagwati Designs Pvt. Ltd., Vadodara, India
Madura Spinning & Manufacturing Limited at Lamdapura Dist Vadodara, India
28000 Spindle Spinning Mill
Worked as a design engineer & was responsible for design of main spinning hall (180feet clear unobstructed span), humidification plants, underground reservoir & pump house, overhead tank, Diesel Generator House including Diesel Generator foundations, complete design of site drainage, overall site development, coordination with site to resolve various construction related issues. Also prepared Tender B.O.Q, requisition for quotation and necessary documentation for obtaining statutory approvals.

Worked as a design engineer & was responsible for design of a clinker stock pile (250 feet diameter) packing plant structure, structural & foundation design of conveyor gantries & supporting tower & trestles including reject conveyor system in the hilly terrain.

18000 Spindle Spinning Mill
Worked as a design engineer & was responsible for design of a main spinning hall, air-washer plants (humidification plants), static vessel foundations, layout & design of supply & return air trenches, erection studies for large span trusses, coordination with site to resolve various construction related issues.

Worked as design engineer & was involved in design of a preheater builidng (280 feet high), hot Electro Static Precipitator (ESP), kiln ESP & cooler ESP structure, clinker stock pile, dust hopper structure, wagon loading plant, substation building and a cement silo. I also designed limestone conveyor galleries, trestle structures & their foundations.
