2. Completed B.Tech. in Marine Engineering. Four year degree course at Directorate of Marine Engineering Training (DMET), Calcutta, INDIA.
Standing- 2nd in rank in the final year with marks- 78 %.
Batch year- from Dec 1982 to Dec 1986.
3. Computer knowledge- Ms-Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), all email applications. Able to handle daily computer maintenance and tasks easily.
Professional Qualifications:
1. Obtained Class II MoT Certificate of competency (for 2nd engineers) at Mumbai, India in year-1989 (after 2 years sailing).
Certificate- Ministry of Transport, Govt of India.
2. Obtained Class I MoT Certificate of competency (for Chief engineers) at Mumbai, India in year-1991. (after next 2 years sailing).
Certificate- Ministry of Transport, Govt of India.
3. Completed all relevant STCW courses required for sea service.
Work Experience- Sea career:
1. 1987- 1991: Started sea career in Jan'1987 as 5th engineer with Great Eastern shipping co., Mumbai (Today India's best known ship owner and tanker operators).
2. Joined Barber ship management co. (Hongkong) in 1989 as 3rd engineer.
3. Promoted to 2nd engr in year 1990, Great Eastern shipping co, Mumbai.
1992: Joined Larsen and Toubro shipping Co. as Additional Chief Engr.
4. From July '92 to Aug'94 left sea career to join father in business. Operated own business in a company dealing in lubricants and industrial oil in New Delhi. Left shipping due to family requirement.
5. Went back to sea career in August-1994 as 2nd engr with Barber ship
Management co. Continued in shipping career.
6. 1997: Promoted to Chief engineer – Vessel Owners- Valles Steamship co. (Canada). Operators of cargo and tanker vessels.
7. 1999-2000: Chief Engineer on vessels with Eurasia Ship Management co. On cape size bulk carriers. Eurasia- (Head office –Hongkong), manages around 60 vessels today under technical and full management.
8. Experience as Technical Manager:
Joined MMS Co. Ltd, Tokyo as Technical superintendent on 6-august-2000. Lived in Japan with family and worked in Tokyo office of this ship-management co. The company operates a fleet of 40 vessels of different types- Dry Bulk, PCC, Woodchip carriers, VLCC and Product tankers.
MMS Co. is accredited with ISO9002 status.
Duties- In-charge of 4 vessels- 2 car carriers and 2 product tankers in capacity of Sr. Technical superintendent.
Duties include:
Purchasing, Budgeting, stores, spares, supplies and repairs management.
Dry-docking, technical advice to vessel, regular inspections, monitoring conditions on board.
Internal audits of vessels, ISM and Safety matters. Class surveys.
Attending delivery of vessels and sea-trials at shipbuilding yard.
Imparting initial training to crew at vessel delivery.
Training of vessels crew by imparting onboard training during sailing on vessel and during port visits. Motivation of ships crew.
Languages and interests:
1. Fluent in English language- reading, speaking and writing.
Mother tongue- Hindi (India).
2. Japanese language ability is limited to that required for traveling and living in Japan. Able to travel without assistance to any port in Japan by means of train, bus and air, including any remote areas.
3. Sports- Played badminton, Cricket and Table tennis at school level.
Family: Wife and one daughter- age 10 years.
Parents- both mother and father live in New Delhi, India. Father operates own business of lubricants company in India.
