Instrument & Control Engineer

EXPERIENCE
16 yrs. plus Instrument & Control Maintenance & Engineering experience in Gas & Petrochemical Industries, Copper Smelter & Refinery, Aviation Air Defence & Telecommunication systems.

1. Presently working in Engineering and Maintenance department as Instrument & Control Engineer at Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Limited (GASCO) – Pipelines Division since December 2003.

Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Limited (GASCO) at Abu Dhabi, U.A.E is one of the largest gases processing company in the world. GASCO processes and delivers Network Gas mainly Methane, Ethane, Propane, Butane and Condensate. As a by-product of acid gas GASCO also produces Sulphur. The role of Pipeline Division to operate, maintain and ensure the integrity of the 3,000 Kilometres of pipelines within the GASCO and ADNOC networks.

2. Worked in Plant Engineering and Maintenance department of Al- Jubail Petrochemical Company (KEMYA), a SABIC and Exxon-Mobil joint venture at Saudi Arabia as Instrumentation Engineer through Dar Al-Riyadh Consultants for Kemya Olefins Plant (KOP), ABB Lummus SRT Steam Cracker Technology Plant from August 1999 to December 2003.

Kemya Olefins Plant is basically Ethylene Cracker plant producing 700KTA of Ethylene and 300 KTA Propylene. It also produces by-products like Pyrolysis Gas and Heavy Fuel Oil and Methane.

3. Worked for SWIL Limited – Copper Division (SWIL), Bharuch (India) as Assistant Manager - Instrumentation for Copper Smelter and Refinery plant from July 1997 to August 1999.

SWIL is the one of leading giant in copper smelting and refining in India, having three different complexes. It has Copper Smelter, Refinery and Wire bar plants at different location in India.

4. Worked for Bhagawati Gases Limited. Khetri Nagar (India) as Senior Engineer –Instrumentation from May 1996 to July 1997.

BGL is the one of the leading group in producing both liquid and dry Oxygen, Nitrogen and Argon at various plants at different location in India for the mainstream public sector plants like Copper, Steel and Zinc.
5. Worked for Indian Air Force (India) having Flight Lieutenant rank in Engineering branch and designated as Senior Maintenance Engineer from April 1990 to April 1996.

Indian Air Force is the fifth largest Air Force in the world having Air defense base station at different location in India. In Indian Air Force worked on Air Defense, Navigation and Communication network systems for tactical areas.

Job Profile

* To provide overall supervision in predictive, preventive, corrective, modification and major shutdown maintenance programs on the Instrument & Control, Electrical, HVAC and Telecommunication systems.

* To review the requirements for major repairs, modifications and shutdowns activities and establish the priority, material and spares, test equipments, tools and concerned personnel required for cost effective maintenance work.

* Initiating procurement of supplies and ensuring the availability of economical stock level for the critical and running spares through MAXIMO software system.

* To review plant modifications and installation of new equipments in the gas pipeline network, determine requirements and supervise the preparation of the plant / design change request and liaising with operation and engineering to ensure acceptance and timely implementation of the related projects.

* To ensure that effective records are kept and updated for the plant equipment after the modification and completion of new pipelines projects.

* To ensure the compilation of the gas pipeline network equipment data to establish reliability and integrity of the network and associated plant equipment.

* To liaise with warehouse to inspect the all critical direct-out and running auto order, repaired and project spares received at site for its suitability and quality.

* To provide input for the preparation of Capital and Operating budgets and monitor the annual expenditure of the budget.

* To enforce the implementation of Health, Safety and Environment Management system and promote awareness among the staff.

* To participate in the review of Pipeline Network Reliability, Operability Improvement & Safety related modification and Projects.

* To review the new Pipeline project specifications, documentation and drawings and provide comments and recommendations.

* Participate in project studies like HAZOP, Site surveys, Familiarization, Safety Audit.

* Participate in the new project commissioning and punch listing and follow up the clearance of all punch list items with project engineering.

* To identify the equipment threats and hazards, in order to maintain the integrity of all equipment.

* To ensure a comprehensive documentation and data system for effective maintenance follow-up.

* To participate in various site level audits and identify and review the area of concern and prepare, update, ensure implementation and periodic revision of the dedicated PM, HSE Critical & Function Check procedures to improve plant reliability and integrity.

* To participate to assess suitability of new equipment and technology used in the new pipelines project and witness their trials at Factory Acceptance Test.

* Experienced to work with the INTOOLS, EDMS, MAXIMO and SAP Entrepreneur Resource Planning and Maintenance Management programs.

* To participate in planning and implementation of in house and outside Competency based Training & Development program for the maintenance technicians through use of Personal Development Plans and Nationalization directives.

Role in Major Projects at GASCO, Abu Dhabi

* Responsible for the Pipeline SMC systems up-gradation project from Serck Controls SCX 5.2 to SCX 6 as end user, which includes the Engineering review of basic Design philosophy, Hardware changes, System Development & Configuration, Control logic & Application developments and System integration, Factory Acceptance Test and Hot Changeover and Commissioning of the new SMC system at the site.

* Participating in the Engineering review, Site surveys and Coordination of upcoming Pipelines Division associated SMC System projects under Onshore Gas Development Phase-III, Asab Gas Development Phase-II, Habshan Gas Complex Expansion and Onshore Associated Gas projects.

* Responsible as Pipelines Division Engineering representative for the Dolphin EGDS project, involved in the Asset verification, SMC system interfaces and up-gradation.

P.G Diploma in Marketing Management, 1994.
