PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
2004 – To Date Reservoir Engineering Department - Pakistan Petroleum Limited

Working as Petroleum Geologist in the Reservoir Engineering Department of Pakistan Petroleum Limited. My job responsibility is to analyze and perform petrophysical evaluation, reservoir characterization, volumetric reserve estimation and economic feasibility of new exploration blocks as well as carry out sequence stratigraphic modeling of reservoirs in order to provide geological backup services to Reservoir Engineers.

Duties And Responsibilities As Petroleum Geologist

* Perform petrophysical evaluation (Processing and Interpretation) to analyze the well log data for hydrocarbon evaluation.
* Perform volumetric reserves estimation (deterministic and probabilistic) by using wireline logs, petrophysical data, DST data and depth structure map.
* Prepare economic evaluation of new exploration blocks to take decision for the bidding of new blocks or drilling wells in the new exploratory blocks.
* Conduct Sequence Stratigraphic Studies of the reservoirs to depict the aerial distribution of reservoir quality formations, using log and seismic data.
* Build 3-D geological models for reservoir characterization / static model using Roxar Irap-RMS 3-D geological modeling software for efficient reservoir development and improving recoveries.
* Participate in field development and well planning working/discussions and provide suggestions to take decision for the location of perforation zones/new development wells based on geological and engineering data.
* Supervise core analysis studies and well logging jobs for various exploratory and development wells.
* Communicate with servicing company's engineers / geologists as well as with the company's wellsite geologist, during the logging job at the well site, to acquire data properly. Occasionally visit well site to witness the wireline logging job.

* Perform technical evaluation of bids submitted for particular softwares as well as for the evaluation of wireline logging service company's capabilities to run the job for the assigned wells or field.
Participate in Joint Venture Partners' OCM/TCM to present results and to discuss and finalize commitments related to exploration and field development planning.
Work on Strategic Plan for future ten and twenty-five years, which includes the estimation of production profiles and Work Programme of existing and exploratory fields.

SOFTWARE SKILLS
* Excellent command on the Reservoir Description Module of Petroleum WorkBench which is utilized in wireline log processing and interpretation as well is in mapping and simulation.
* Excellent command on Surfer Mapping Software to be utilized in contour area / rock volume estimation as well is in the preparation of various types of maps and cross sections.
* Excellent command on Reservoir Evaluation Program (REP) utilized in volumetric reserves estimations. Equally good in utilizing Crystal Ball for volumetric reserves estimations.
* Utilizing in-house spreadsheets in economic feasibility evaluation.
* Awareness of various modules of Roxar 3-D Geological Modeling Software.

1996 – 2000 Mud Logging Section - Baker Hughes INTEQ

* Worked as Data / Pressure Engineer in Doha, Qatar (Offshore) from April 01 to August 07, 2000 for Maersk E&P.

* Worked as Data / Pressure Engineer in Pakistan from August 25, 1996 to March 31, 2000. During this job I have worked with the following clients: Union Texas Pakistan (UTP), Pakistan Oil Field Limited (POL), OMV Exploration Pakistan, Tallow Exploration Pakistan and Premier Exploration Pakistan. Following are the overseas operations, where I worked,
* In the Gulf of Thailand for Unocal Oil Thailand Limited and Maersk Oil Thailand (Off Shore - Directional Drilling).
* In the "South Sea of China" for Shell China Petroleum Development. Offshore, directional drilling.
* In the "Penghu Basin Offshore Taiwan" for CONOCO Taiwan E & P B.V. Offshore, directional drilling.
* In the "North-East part of Malay Basin" for Fina Exploration Minhi Vietnam. Offshore, directional drilling.

Duties And Responsibilities As Data / Pressure Engineer

* Operate and maintain the logging unit and equipment.
* Evaluate lithology samples and report any hydrocarbon shows.
* Produce and participate in the study of well logs e.g. Formation evaluation Logs, Pressure Logs, Temperature Logs, Drilling data logs.
* Participate in geological studies, interpretation and correlation while drilling.
* Estimation of Formation Pore Pressure on the basis of DXC plot, Temperature Log, Formation Evaluation Logs, Drilling Data Logs, Shale-cuttings i.e. pressured cavings, and mud properties.
* Writing of drilling summary and calculation of mud hydraulics using XLbase software on daily basis.
* Bit optimization on client request.
* Monitor rig functions, operations and downhole conditions for formation evaluation, drilling efficiency and safety at the rig site.

PAPER PRESENTATION / PUBLICATIONS
* A paper was presented by co-author on "An Investigation of Extensional Viscosity of Polymer Based Fluids as Possible Mechanism of Internal Cake Formation" in SPE International Symposium and Exhibition on Formation Damage Control Lafayette, Louisiana, U.S.A., 18-20, February 2004. The same paper is being published in Journal of Energy Resources, 2005-6.

* Read a research paper on "An Investigation of Formation Damage Characteristics of Xanthan Gum Solutions Used for Drilling, Drill-In, Spacer Fluids and Coiled Tubing Applications" at CIPC (Canadian International Petroleum Conference) as a Principal Author on June 10, 2003, held in Stampede, Calgary, Canada.

* Attended a course on "Block Evaluation and Volumetric Reserve Estimation" from April 3-7, in Islamabad, organized by PPEPCA. Course was conducted by Mr. Garret Maure, President, MaurOil International Calgary, Canada.
* Attended an in-house 5-days (March 13-17, 2006) course on Orientation and Introduction to Roxar Irap-RMS 3-D Geological Modeling Software. Worked on demo data to build a complete 3D Geological Model.
* Attended a course on Wireline Log Interpretation, 23-27th May 2005, in Islamabad, arranged by PEPCA.
* Attended a course on "Fundamental of Core Analysis", 26th-28th April 2005, in Islamabad organized by Core Lab Pakistan.
* Attended a five days course on " From Reservoir Characterization to Flow Simulation: Including Fracture Network" in July 2004, arranged by Beicip Franlab in Islamabad, Pakistan.
* Attended an Advance Safety School from March 05 – 09, 1999, organized by Baker Western Geophysical Pakistan in Dadoo, Sind (Pakistan). Mr. Peter from FRONTIER MEDICAL, United Kingdom conducted this five days course.
* Attended a safety training school from December 01 – 06, 1997, at ALERT DISASTER CONTROL SAFETY AND SURVIVAL TRAINING CENTER, Singapore.
