Have the experience of working in a Client Company, Detailed Engineering Consultancy Company and an EPC Contracts Company. In view of this I have experience of working in all stages of a project by virtue of my past employment in addition to having experience in Commissioning & Maintenance.

I have experience of involving in projects in various stages like, Conceptual, FEED, Bid preparation, Bid evaluation, Bid submission, Engineering Review, Detailed Engineering, Commissioning and also Operational Support and listed below are my areas where-in I have specialized experience.

Have taken active participation in programs like IPF / SIL assessments, HAZOPs, HAZIDs, QRAs, PHSERs, etc.

Proficient in using softwares like Instrucalc, Maximo, SIFPRO, etc. and very well conversant with API, IEC, ISA standards, Shell DEPs and other relevant codes for the Oil & Gas Industry

WORK EXPERIENCE:
May 2002 Onwards Sr. Inst & Control Engineer
Zakum Development Company (ZADCO), Abu Dhabi

The company has a facilities engineering department, which is a multi discipline engineering team. I am part of this team assisting the site operations of all engineering support and also carrying out the engineering support for major projects. The role involves preparation of engineering packages for EPC contractors, reviewing of contractors detailed engineering activities and also carrying out engineering and procurement of in-house engineered projects.

Principal Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Provide operational support to the offshore production team by identifying new projects and providing improvements in the instrument performances.
- Review and approve facility change requests from site.
- Preparation of Instrument datasheets, technical specifications, material requisitions, technical bid evaluation.
- Review the as built status of the existing documents and accordingly prepare the engineering packages.
- Prepare engineering packages for changes approved.
- Participate in HAZOP, HAZID and QRA studies
- Ensure that the engineering deliverables are developed in accordance with design codes and standards.
- Technical integrity of engineering deliverables
- Site visits and reports
- Along with other discipline engineers review and identify the requirements for any new projects.
- Review the consultant deliverables for the various stages of a project like Feasibility, Conceptual, FEED, etc.

Major Assignments/Achievements
- Part of the team that handles the Modernisation of SCADA and Instrument control systems projects (MOSAICS) as part which the old shutdown PLCs were replaced by new Triconex SIL-3 rated safety systems in the 1st phase. The 2nd phase involves replacing the SCADA and the DCS systems for which technical evaluation of the bids is progress. This involves extensive review as the existing documents are properly updated. This complete project has a budget of about US$120 million

- Engineer and implement the Gas Breakthrough detection & Protection project through in-house engineering and procurement activities.
- Execute the toxic gas detection project in the upper Zakum field
- Carry out the SIL assessment review of the toxic gas detection project.
- Engineer, procure and install and commission ultrasonic flare gas meters in 8 different flares in the Upper Zakum offshore field.
- Initiate a study on the feasibility of integrated service umbilical for use in the upper zakum field to solve problems related to power and instrument gas.
- Prepare the bid documents and also review the deliverables for the Conceptual and FEED stage studies for the GTP expansion and New Secondary unit Project that is to be executed shortly. This project budget is about US$ 102 million

2. From May 2001 to April 2002 Sr. Instrumentation engineer
Petrofac International, Sharjah, UAE

Principal Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Prepare cost estimates when working on proposals to bid.
- Review the customer specifications and call for tender documents.
- Get budgetary quotations based on the specifications for the sake of preparation of the bids.
- Preparation of specifications for System and Instruments along with datasheets, technical specifications, material requisitions, technical bid evaluation.
- Provide commissioning assistance for the projects
- Participate in HAZOP, HAZID and QRA studies
- Attend client meetings
- Obtain approval of the client on the deliverables
- Site visits

Major Assignments/Achievements
- Was the lead instrument engineer on the Dorood Onshore New Facilities Project of Total Fina Elf.
- Was involved from the proposal stage of the project. The award value of this project is US$ 245 million.
- Was involved in obtaining the approval of the various documents from TFE and also upto the award of the DCS/ESD system, which was ordered on Emerson's Delta-V DCS and ICS-Triplex for ESD/F&G applications. Order value of the systems was US$ 2 million
- Was the lead proposal engineer for the Ras Laffan Cooling Water System Project. Prepared a comprehensive proposal. The highlight in this project as far as instrumentation was it involved various control buildings and the DCS proposed for this project included a complex network interconnecting various control rooms.
- Lead instrument engineer on the Qatar Petroleum's Arab D station Coalescer project which was completed on time.

3. From October 1999 to May 2001 Sr. Instrumentation engineer
Electrowatt Engineering (EWE), Muscat, Oman

EWE had a local design services contract with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) for providing engineering consultancy. EWE was the prime consultancy organisation for the Yibal, Bhaja and Rima areas of PDO. The other major clients for EWE are Qatar Petroleum (Previously QGPC), Occidental Petroleum, Qatar gas, Rasgas, etc.

Principal Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Prepare CTR estimates for each of the studies allotted
- Review and approve field change requests from site.
- Preparation of Instrument datasheets, technical specifications, material requisitions, technical bid evaluation.
- Prepare engineering packages.
- Participate in IPF, HAZOP, HAZID and QRA studies
- Ensure that the engineering deliverables are developed in accordance with design codes and standards.
- Site visits and reports
- Along with other discipline engineers review and identify the requirements for any new projects.

Major Assignments/Achievements
- Attended the IPF course of PDO
- Carried out IPF classification exercise for some PDO jobs.
- Participated on the factory acceptance test of the PLC for the athel condensate treatment unit project.
- Review and approved various PDU studies and completed engineering packages for them.
- Carried out al necessary documentation for the DCS upgrade project of Occidental Petroleum, Qatar for their PS-1 platform.
- Carried out engineering of the topside up gradation at both wellhead platforms and the PS-1R platforms for the year 2000 flow line campaign project for Occidental Petroleum, Qatar.

4. From August 1992 to Oct 1999 Deputy Manager (Instrumentation & Control)
Engineers India Limited (EIL), New Delhi, India

Principal Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Prepare man hour estimates
- Preparation of instrument datasheets, technical specifications, material requisitions, technical bid evaluation and vendor drawing & document review.
- Tender preparation, finalization of sub contractor.
- Project engineering, progress review, project execution plan, QA plan
- Participate in commissioning activities
- Represent company in meetings with client, other EPC contractors and equipment suppliers
- Carry out P&ID review
- Participate in HAZOP, HAZID and QRA studies
- Ensure that the engineering deliverables are developed in accordance with design codes and standards and contract requirements
- Quality assurance and control of the engineering design phase in accordance with ISO9001 quality standards.
- Selection of materials of construction
- Technical integrity of engineering deliverables
- Review and supervise the work of the designers and draughts men
- Identifying the discrepancies in conceptual design developed by client
- Project management consultancy for client.
- Site assistance
- Participate in the engineering of systems like DCS and PLCs.
- Participate in factory acceptance tests.
- Interact with other disciplines for various coordination activities
- Participate in developing basic engineering packages
- Review engineering of EPC contractors engineering works.
- Carry out technical audits on other projects.

Major Assignments/Achievements
At EIL, I have been associated with various projects in areas of petrochemical, offshore and refinery projects. Listed below are some of the major projects/jobs in which I was involved.

- Lead instrument engineer for the CLAMP-ON RELATED MODIFICATION (CRMP-2), Bombay High & Heera Fields, of ONGC which was carried out by EIL on an EPC basis. The project involved topside modifications on 23 different wellhead platforms.
- Lead instrument engineer for the PLATFORM AND PIPELINE MODIFICATION, Bombay High & Neelam Fields of ONGC which was carried out by EIL on an EPC basis. The project involved topside modifications on different wellhead platforms and also on process platforms.
- Carried out detailed engineering as the Lead instrument engineer for the Diesel Hydro De-sulphurisation (DHDS)project of Madras Refineries limited which involved a Hydrogen unit (licensed by KTI), DHDS unit (licensed by IFP), Sulphur Recovery unit (licensed by EIL-Delta Hudson). The project involved a Honeywell DCS system and FSC safety PLC certified for AK Class V. Participated in the FAT of both the systems.
- Preparation of bid documents, evaluation of the bids and subsequent review of the EPC contractors documents & drawings for the BOOSTER COMPRESSOR PLATFORM, in the South Bassien Field of Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Limited. Reviewed all necessary documents of the new platforms along with the control system upgrade of the old BPA/BPB platforms and the F&G system of the building modules. This contract was executed by Hyundai in their South Korea offices for which I was on deputation for the design review.
- Participated in the detailed engineering of various units at the IPCL's Gandhar petrochemical complex.
- Design review of the captive power plant executed by M/s BHEL on an EPC basis.
- Participated in the FAT of the HIMA PLC at Germany for the burner management system which was certified for AK Class V.
- Reviewed the engineering of the steam turbine control system provided with WOODWARD NETCON 5000 system.
- Reviewed the engineering of the MARK V control system for gas turbine generators.
- Carried out the detailed engineering of the product dispatch terminal of the IPCL's Gandhar complex. The product dispatch and storage area consists of Storage facilities for various Raw material/products of the Complex like Propylene, C4 Mix, Vinyl Chloride Monomer, Caustic, Hydrochloric acid, Naphtha, Liquefied Petroleum Gas, etc. and automation system for the road loading system for the products. Complete automated truck loading system integrated with servo type tank farm management system was provided.
- Carried out engineering for various Utility systems like air separation system, Instrument air system, DM water, Cooling water, Firewater, Waste water treatment Plant, etc for this complex.
- Participated in the evaluation of the DCS bids for the Ethylene plant of this complex.
- Part of team which was deputed to Technip, Paris for the preparation of the basic engineering package for the Ethylene plant of NOCIL

5. APRIL 1988 TO AUGUST 1992 ENGINEER (INSTRUMENT & CONTROL)
Indian Petrochemical Corporation Limited, Nagothane

Joined IPCL during the erection stages of the petrochemical complex and was involved during the erection, commissioning and subsequently in the maintenance of the captive power plant and the utilities systems
Principal Tasks & Responsibilities:

- Participate in erection activities
- Calibrations of various field instruments like pressure gauges, transmitters, etc. and also stroke checking of control valves.
- Supervision of the installation of the DCS consoles and cabinets and also various control room equipment as per the control room layout drawing.
- Checking of the complete loop by feeding the inputs from the field and also the outputs from the control room through loop checking.
- Co-ordination with detailed engineering contractor in case of any problems encountered due to mistakes in various drawings.
- Planning of periodic and preventive maintenance activities for various instruments and their execution through technicians.
- Various troubles shooting activities including software changes if required in the DCS for operational ease.

Major Assignments/Achievements
- Commissioning of the Instrument air system package
- Commissioning of the DM water system
- Commissioning of the waste water treatment plant
- Participate in the commissioning of the steam turbine generators which was part of an EPC contract by M/s. Chiyoda
- Participate in the loop checking activities of the LDPE plant.
- Participate in the commissioning of the captive power plant.
- Maintenance of the instruments and systems for the complete utilities and the power plant.
- Took training of the Allen Bradley PLCs
- Took training on the TOSHIBA DCS system
