As senior Process Safety engineer designed and implemented the Process Safety Management and Occupational Health and Safety Programs for a large petrochemical complex handling highly hazardous chemicals. (3 eight thousand tons/yr ethylene crackers, Vinyl Chloride Monomer Plant, Butene-1, Polystyrene, PVC and Polyethylene plants. Specific accomplishments included:
* The first independent PSM audit of the facility by an independent consultant recommended that components of the Petrokemya PSM programs could be used as "Best Practices" at other affiliates.
* Petrokemya's PSM program was ranked #2 among 15 SABIC affiliate companies.
* Lead HAZOP studies for new projects (800 million $ Ethylene Cracker, Butene-1 unit, Poly Vinyl Chloride Plant De-bottleneck) plant modifications and PHA revalidations.
* Developed & kept updated safety regulations and complex wide safety policies, and programs complying with OSHA and other consensus standards. Programs included Safe Work Practices, Process & Equipment Safety programs, Emergency Response, Industrial Hygiene, Accident prevention, Process Safety Management, MOC, HAZOP.
* Developed guidelines for incident investigations, and writing operating procedures. Lead the development of procedures for on-stream calibration of relief valves; testing of Safety Critical Instruments and alloy verifications.
* Provided safety & loss prevention information and support including interpretations of codes, standards and practices, to operations and technical groups on existing plant facilities, facility modifications and new projects.

Provided leadership, technical expertise and guidance to the operating staff for the administration and operation of the Urea/Utilities plant. Through effective leadership, good planning and innovative ideas was able to reduce costs, and increase plant service & capacity factors.
Was responsible for a major expansion project that enhanced the production capacity by 75% with 8% reduction in gas consumption. Winner of prestigious Exxons Operational Excellence Award.

Process Engineering Section Head
* Lead a group of four process engineers for development and implementation of a number of novel projects to improve productivity and efficiency. Includes design and implementation of a US$ 25 million "Natural Gas CO2 Recovery project" that resulted in 15 % capacity increase without any additional feedstock gas usage. Entire engineering was done in-house with excellent results.
* Responsibilities include evaluation and elimination of potential process risks and hazards by conducting HAZOP, safety and design reviews, Operating cost reduction by evaluating and recommending energy conservation projects, formulating catalyst replacement timings and optimizing inventories.

Safety Engineer
As safety engineer conducted design safety reviews; developed programs for handling large ammonia and chlorine release. Developed the emergency response manual, organized & participated in the risk management surveys, and implemented all aspects of the EXXON SH&E program.
