1992 to 1995: Joined as Electrical & Instrument Superintendent with The National Titanium Dioxide Co. Ltd. (CRISTAL) – a Titanium producing Company, based at its production plant in Yanbu Al-Sinaiyah, Saudi Arabia.

1996 to 1997: Held the position of Career Development & Saudization Manager of CRISTAL.

1997 to 1998: Promoted as Division Manager of PMMD (Procurement, Material Management & Property Control)

1998 to 2001: Assigned as General Manager of Arabian Chlorine Company Ltd., (ACC) a Chlor-alkali industry unit, a captive Chlorine unit for the Pigment Plant.

ACC was a Joint Venture Company which has later become a Sister-Company of CRISTAL.

I was assigned the full management responsibility of ACC and PMMD and discharged my responsibilities under the designation as V.P. Business Support.

Effective mid-2002 (after merging of the 2 Plants, ACC with CRISTAL), I am presently working as Vice President – Operations & Maintenance of CRISTAL based at its production plant in Yanbu Al-Sinaiyah, Saudi Arabia. CRISTAL is a world well-known Titanium Dioxide producer having an annual production capacity of 90,000 MT and the capital investment deployed is SR 1.2 Billion. We produce Industrial Grade Pigments which is mainly used in Paint, Plastic and other industrial applications.

Pigment plant comprise of 10 Units:

* 4 Units for production of Titanium Dioxide (Pigment)

* 4 Units for Utilities viz. Boilers, Cooling Towers, Air Separation Units, RO Plant and Effluent unit, etc.

* 2 Units for production of Chlorine being the basic raw material for producing Pigment. The total Capacity of Chlorine units are as follows:

- Chlorine 80 MT Per Day
- Caustic 90 MT Per Day
- Hydrochloric Acid 25 MT Per Day
- Sodium Hypochlorite 20 MT Per Day
- Caustic Soda Flakes 30 MT Per Day.

* The manpower strength of Production & Maintenance Departments alone is 350 including 15 Chemical Engineers and 12 Maintenance Engineers.

VP O&M Responsibilities:

Being the Head of Operations & Maintenance Division, responsible for key operational management and administration of the entire Process, Production and Maintenance of Pigment & Chlorine Sections to strictly achieve the daily production targets while bearing in mind the budgeted production cost. O&M Division comprises of 5 active Departments.

Special Assignment & Projects completed:

In 1998, CRISTAL Management assigned me the additional responsibility of construction and commissioning of a new Chlorine Expansion Project.

* From concept to commissioning, I was involved in the new Chlorine Expansion Project of 40 MTPD. This project was commissioned in a record time and is on-stream from August 2002 (by a British Contractor, M/s. Simon Carves Ltd).
Experience in Egypt:

1978 – End 1992

Joined Gulf of Suez Petroleum Company (GUPCO), Egypt, as an Instrument Engineer – Off-shore Crude Oil and On-shore in Red Sea Ras-Shukhair. In the span of 14 years with GUPCO, held various positions as detailed below:

* Instrument Maintenance Engineer in Gas Plant in Ras-Shukhair.

* Instrument & Automatic Control Section Head in Dahshour Gas Plant for LPG and Fuel Gas.
* In 1992, I was the Acting Maintenance Department Head responsible for Instrument and Automatic Control Systems.
