Present Employment:

BP / CHINA NATIONAL OFFSHORE OIL COMPANY.

Sub Sea Engineer.

I am currently working as Sub Sea / Completions engineer for BP/CNOOC on a Floating Production unit in the South China Seas.
My main duties include the daily running of the Sub Sea dept, troubleshooting, maintaining, and overhauling of a Shaffer 5K BOP with a Koomey control system (HPU).
On the Work-over side of the operation I am also responsible for a vast amount of equipment on board including the Riser tensioners, Guideline tensioners, Drill String Compensator (400k Shaffer in-line), and also a Hydril riser and diverter system.
With the BOP/Production and compensation equipment taking priority in the sub sea department, when time permits my work scope also includes maintaining all BOP-Xmas tree Skidding systems, deployment / retrieval equipment and heavy lift cranes.

On the Production side of the operation I am involved in the deployment/retrieval and maintenance of all Production Well equipment, i.e. Xmas trees, Running tools, In- Water Power Reels and Wellhead tie-in equipment. (FMC products)
With a vast amount of equipment on board, my role also includes training, hands-on and in a classroom environment of all pertaining personnel involved with all aspects of the Sub Sea equipment and operations.

TRANSOCEAN DRILLING SERVICES

Sub sea Supervisor / Engineer from May 2000 to January 2003.

My position with Transocean was Sub Sea Supervisor-Engineer on The Ultra Deepwater, Dynamically Positioned Drill ship, 'The Deepwater Discovery? based all up and down the coast of West Africa. (Mauritania, Nigeria, EG, Angola, Gabon, Cameroon)
We had successfully completed 19 wells in 2 ?years and in various water depths, the deepest being 9300ft.
My main duties included maintaining, testing and trouble shooting of a "Cameron?18 ?- 15,000 Blow Out Preventer (BOP), Deepwater Riser systems, and an ABB Mux control system (Touch screen/fibre optic system), in water depths of 10,000 feet.
I ensured the smooth operation and running of all pertaining Blow Out Prevention (BOP) equipment, i.e. wellhead equipment (Drill-Quip-Vetco), BOP handling systems, HPU's, High Pressure Compressors, Fibre optic reels, Tensioning systems, Deepwater Riser Equipment, the Sub Sea Department and technical support.
I obtained various certificates for 'on-job?training/safe work practices.
I was also on the project team involved in the final commissioning/installation of the above equipment whilst the vessel was being completed in Samsung shipyard, Koje, Korea.

FINNCO LTD

Technical Co-ordinator from January 1999 to May 2000.

As Technical Co-ordinator, my duties included Project Managing Finnco projects worldwide (France, Norway). Conducting offshore and overseas installation and commissioning projects on Finnco and various other manufacturers Mechanical, hydraulic and Pneumatic systems. These included Pipe handlers, Iron roughnecks, Riser systems, Cranes and Sub Sea handling systems, A-frames, etc.

I was also involved in the Mechanical / Riser Tie In and commissioning of the Jotan A & B Floating Production Vessels in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.

RETSCO INTERNATIONAL INC

Promoted to Project Manager from July 1996 to January 1999.
(Relocation to Retsco Inc, based in Houston)
In this capacity, it was my responsibility to co-ordinate the refurbishment, assembly and installation of such equipment as Riser Tensioner, Drill String Compensators and Active Heave Systems during projects on Semi-submersible drilling vessels, both offshore and in ship yards (Singapore, France, Holland, Norway, Brazil and UK).
Assistance was required from me on design, manufacture and upgrades of new and used equipment, along with co-ordinating equipment and personnel on major worldwide projects.
I also conducted in-house training and safe working practices, including Hi-pressure testing techniques (Hydraulic & Pneumatic) and the safe handling of heavy equipment.

Service Engineer /Field Supervisor from April 1994 to July 1996.

Repairing, installing, inspecting and trouble shooting of Riser Tensioners and Drill String Compensators worldwide (Singapore, France, Brazil and UK) were among some of my duties.
I also installed and commissioned several Active Heave Systems, starting from building onshore to installing /commissioning offshore. Systems worked on included Vetco, Shaffer, Western Gear, Brown Brothers. (Tensioner and DSC).

SEDCO FOREX DRILLING SERVICES

6G / Coded Welder/Fitter from May 1989 to April 1994.

Design and fabrication of rig modification equipment to conform to safety specification, such as installation of 3rd party equipment, i.e. Atlas wire line units, Active Heave Tensioner systems were just some of my tasks.
I also performed repairs and upgrades to Sub sea equipment, mud systems, Drill string compensators, riser Tensioners, Wellhead equipment, bulk handling systems, seawater cooling systems, lifting gear and anchor handling systems.
I received 6G certification by ABS, also pertaining company certificates for safe work practices, along with a letter of commendation for exemplary service upon departure from the company.

ALEX HAY AGRICULTURAL ENGINEERS

Apprentice Welder/Fitter from March 1985 to May 1989.

I fabricated a wide variety of new agricultural machinery and repair of used equipment, including on site repairs throughout the NE of Scotland.
