Two options worked out Wellhead Compression and Front End Compression in view of wells production profiles. The project cost was estimated around US$ 330 MM. Turbo-Compressors were proposed with parallel and series machines in view of life of field and declining production rates.
3. Flowline & Tie-in Projects: I have handled number of number of flowline & tie-in projects for Joint Venture to line up new well for flowing to gas processing plant. Such projects normally involve the project technical review, AFE approvals, contract award approvals, project cost optimization through technical concerns, investment proposal preparation for Eni headquarters etc. Every new well costs for JV around Well Drilling & Completion US$ 8-10 MM and flowline installation US$ 4-6 MM. Most of the flowline projects are of Duplex Steel because of high level of H2S.
Projects as Pipeline Engineer
I have involved in following pipeline/flowline projects as Pipeline Engineer:
1. White Oil Pipeline Project (WOPP) for Pak Arab Pipeline Company Ltd. (PAPCO): This project entails the preparation of FEED document and detailed engineering for 780 km long HSD pipeline from Karachi to Multan. I involved in pipeline hydraulics, economic diameter selection, pumping/terminal system design, surge analysis, control/operating philosophy, alignment sheets, P&IDs, Data Sheets, BOQs & cost estimates etc. The project has an estimated worth of USD 600 million.
2. Taru Jabba Pipeline Project (Attock Refinery Ltd.): This project involves preparation of FEED and EPC tender document for 12" multi-product pipeline 160 km long transporting HSD, MS, KERO and JP-1 and 6" Jet fuel pipeline to Peshawer-25 km. I had similar responsibilities as mentioned in above White Oil Pipeline Project.
3. Feasibility Study for Crude Storage System & HSD Pipeline (Pakistan Refinery Ltd.) The study involves the installation of strategic Crude Oil storage and pipelines. The scope includes the three pipelines for crude and one for HSD transportation. Six (06) storage tanks of each 220' dia. x 48' height (225000 Mtons) were proposed. Dyke Wall calculations, hydraulics analysis, line size selection & optimization, preliminary BOQs, fire-fighting facility requirements were also carried out.
4. Study of Interchangeability of Korangi Keamari Pipelines (NRL): This study was performed to assess the interchangeability of Keamari-Korangi KK-Pipelines dia. 8" and 6" for new service (flow/pressure) conditions for Black (HSD, LDO) and White (Naphtha, MS, KERO, JP-1 & JP-4) Products. This includes system bottlenecks identification, pipeline hydraulics, maximum flow handling check, suitability of pumping units, mechanical integrity check (thk calc).
