Brief Description of job: MDDU Unit:
Preparation for initial start up for the Middle Distillate Dewaxing Unit MDDU (AKZO NOBEL LICENCE) as follows:
*Inspection of vessels
*Hydrostatic testing
*Flushing of lines and equipments(water flushing – steam blowing – air blowing)
*Inspection and run-in of pumps and drivers
*Compressors inspection and run-in
*Air coolers
*Utility system start up
*Heater refractory dry out
*Catalyst handling and dense loading (Petroval company)

Start up of the MDDU from DCS:
1) Hydro cracking unit in which the main product is GASOIL and the byproduct are SOUR LPG and SOUR NAPHTHA.
2) LPG Treatment unit with amine and sodium carbonate
3) Naphtha Treatment unit with sodium carbonate.(Merchem system)
4) Amine recovery unit.

This technology converts:
-Sour gases (from MDDU unit)
-Acid gases(from Amine recovery unit)
-Spent caustic (from naphtha and LPG treating)
from desulphurization processes, into elementary sulphur by biological process

The Alexandria plant will be the first THIOPAQ® unit built on an industrial scale.
