WORK HISTORY
Automation Control Services, Toronto, ON, Canada 1999 ¨C present
Self Employed, Consultant
* Long-term projects from previous job on contracts.
* Hot support for service-call urgent problems at the GE Fanuc controls supplier Gescan.
* Connections with Allen Bradley supplier Trade Electric and Omron office.
* On business trips worked 20 hours a day to save customer downtime and resolve problems.
* Customer satisfaction examples: doubling the asking pay rate; saving experts from Sweden and Singapore to go home a day before Christmas; listening to advices not only for controls, but for production, mechanics, hydraulic - all due to the prompt solving of customer problems.
* Getting better efficiency in existing machines and machine lines. The experience shows that machinery with productivity limits reached are rarely found (only mechanically or by unproven reliability or safety concerns). A happy customer three years afterwards informed that one of the initiatives to optimize a production line brought $3.5mln USD in savings.
* Solving problems that even original producers gave up dealing with. Example: Bradbery garage door rails roll-forming/bending line.
* Creating total new solutions to get the needed results. Example: for chiropractic's automatic cushion drops could do nothing else, but design a custom sensing/controls/mechanic/pneumatic system, including a controller with analog and digital inputs and outputs, display, keypad and communications, using only a processor core, embedded system programming tools and some components from the shelves.
* New PLC kinds: Siemens, Koyo, IDEC, Z-World, and GE Series One Plus. With manuals available, the new tools and languages were basically ready to be used when the software installation finished. Vision systems - Vision Components, Imagination; OIU, HMI, SCADA: Idec, Wonderware, Cimplicity, Total Control, QuickPanel View, custom designed LCD; motor drives, servos and (intelligent also) sensors.
* Languages: added all the ladders for the new PLCs, Tool Panel PC, Vimos, Dynamic C.
* Conducting PLC and SCADA courses ¨C currently involved in Haward Technology Middle East training system ¨C that brought experience and understanding of others' mentality.
* Customers: Dietrich Industries USA (Baltimore MD, Wildwood FL, East Brunswick NJ, Lunenburg MA, Hicksville OH, and Fredericksburg VA); Zinometal Israel (altogether 20+ business trips abroad); Automation Services, Alderbrook Industries, Tetra Pack, Metro Fence & Fittings, Maple Screw Products, Triumph Therapeutic Supplies, Focus Machine, Vulcan Containers, Samco Machinery, Exit Handling Corporation, Brockhouse, Roll Form Group, Unimotion Gear, Air Liquide (Hamilton and Bramalea plants), Ideal Industries, Aecometric, Nucon Wittmann, Hydroform Solutions, IPEX, Webcom Limited, Maplehurst Correctional Complex, Eurest ¨C Compass Group Canada, Lynx Industries, The Metropolitan Tea Company, Parsec Engineering, The Mad Moos Rag Company, Clearwater Screen Printing, Haward Technology Middle East UAE, Fused Metals, VIP Industries, Maxtech Screw Products, OPG Bruce Power, El-Met-Parts Hamilton, Comau Pico, Ford Oakville.

Controls Programmer
* Played a major role in controls decisions at the designing stage, programming and setting up all controls on the floor, all the troubleshooting, testing, developing, changing, tuning, commissioning and customer support in the startup for all machines and production lines.
* The only programmer and controls developer in the company to make all decisions and executions.
* The company: As seen from the name - designing and developing machinery not limited by any industry field. Usually 3-4 on the go - anything from machining, manipulating, transporting, cleaning, grinding, properly placing, sticking, orienting, etc., to heavy roll-forming and after roll-forming packaging and nesting, and big customer lines mechanical and controls modifications and improvements. They varied from small wine bottle wax capping and screw placing or manufacturing to 50' long roll-formers, master-bundlers and nesters, and bigger production lines.
* Controls: PLC (Allen Bradley PLC5, all kinds in SLC 500 series, MicroLogics and their OIU PanelView; GE Fanuc series 90-30 and their OIU - Horner and Total Control; Omron CQM1, CPM, K20 and some of their OIU, Aromat.); PC based vision system with frame grabber, HMI Wonderware and Cimplicity; analog and digital interface boards; servos and stepper motors controls; AC and DC drives; measuring and intelligent sensors.
* Programming: all of the above PLC ladder logics; C for the PC based systems, proprietary languages and setting up of servos, sensors, OIU and other controls.
* Customers: Dietrich Industries USA (Baltimore MD, Wildwood FL, East Brunswick NJ, Lunenburg MA, Hicksville OH, Colton CA, La Porte IN, Fredericksburg VA, Hammond IN, Stockton CA, Miami Fl, Lenexa KZ, Warren OH, Phoenix AZ, the last four - not visited, only phone-supported) Worthington Industries USA and Wordington Cylinders Columbus OH (50+ US business trips altogether), Pullmatic, Unimotion Gear, Brockhouse, IGI ¨C International Group Incorporated, Vulcan Containers, Walker Exhaust, Focus Machine and some others ¨C all in the Greater Toronto Area.
Institute of Technical Cybernetics and Robotics, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences Research and development assistant, post-graduate student 1985 -1995
* Part of proud developers with innovative technical solutions, advanced for the entire Eastern Block.
* Developed the system software for PLC Isomatic. With more than 4,000 produced in several years, the most popular in the region, a large number sold in the broad USSR. The programming concept, the language, the system software and communications were all originally designed.
* The group was in industrial field-bus communications to the extent of being presented in IEEE committee establishing world standard. Personal involvement led to dissertation on the same topic.
* Mostly practically oriented, a major player in system programming, communications and applications. Apart from designing and developing, as one of PLC and embedded systems creators, senior advisor in customer projects with these controls. The key-role in areas of system and application communications and big hierarchical systems. Grown III to I level as R&D assistant.
* The original developing and the hardware problems even at customer sites built a fundamental base for the future. Doing automation there meant dealing with more challenges and logical puzzles. That is another reason to be easy and "can-do" here and now.
* Programming languages: Assembly for Motorola, Zilog and Intel; Pascal, C, Fortran; PLCs.
* Biggest projects: - A Hierarchical System of seven trans-manipulators, seven transfer shuttles, automation coordinating level and networked seven-PC higher level for warehouse data base;
- A software system for off-line programming and simulating of PLC Isomatic;
- The communications and drivers for trans-manipulators, sold all over the world.
* Key customers: The PLC producing plants; Trans-manipulators plant in Gorna Oriahovica; Export Engineering Trading Company "Balkancarpodem", Machinery Integrating and Exporting Company "IntransMash"; The Unity of plants for Oil Industry Heavy Equipment in Baku Azerbaijan.
