Projects Handled at RIL:

A. Detail Engineering for the Aromatic Units - Heavy Naphtha Unionfining Unit (HNUU) and Platformer Unit in JERP.

B. Detail Engineering for the existing Aromatic Complex.

Key Tasks Handled;
* Perform pump calculations (IFP) which set final elevations of vessels to meet NPSHR for the final pump selection.

* Perform hydraulic calculations and select appropriate line sizes.

* Prepare, assume all responsibility, and own all Piping & Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs) within their designated area.

* Prepare a tie-in control schedule which is consistent with the P&IDs.

* Provide control valve, flow element, and other in-line instrument sizing data to the control systems discipline engineers.

* Assign line numbers and prepare the Line Designation Tables. Assign appropriate piping specification in accordance with the material selection diagram.

* Identify and tag all Specialty Items and prepare a consistent Specialty Items Index and data sheets.

* Verify the conformance of the P&ID to equipment data sheets and specifications.

* Review P&IDs prepared by licensors, package unit vendors, and equipment vendors to ensure that they are properly integrated and interfaced with the other P&IDs and systems and that they provide adequate design information for use by downstream design disciplines.

* Ensure that systems can accommodate all normal operating, abnormal, and transient upset conditions such as start-up, shutdown, runaway reaction, and hydrostatic testing.

* Recognize the multiple downstream customers for the P&IDs and ensure that the P&IDs meet construction, operation, maintenance, and safety needs.

* Initiate all issues of P&IDs and prepare accompanying revision lists.

* Maintain the "Holds" List to the right hand side of the P&ID.

* Establish and maintain the management of change using revision lists and issue Design Change Notices (DCN's) to P&IDs.

* Review the model (Hydraulics) against the P&IDs for conformance throughout the development of the model. The model must reflect the flow scheme, interconnections, control devices, elevation requirements, etc. shown on the P&ID. The P&ID in turn must reflect the physical relationship for utility and header piping branches, etc.

* Verify that the model accurately follows the design requirements detailed on the P&ID. Ensure that physical piping and equipment layout satisfies all process and systems requirements such as relative elevations between equipment, lines which must slope, lines which cannot have pockets, valves which must be accessible, etc.

* Participate in the HAZOP review, coordinate HAZOP action items, and initiate and manage changes to the P&ID which result. Coordinate special hazard studies as required by Lead Loss Prevention Engineer.

* Perform process safety analysis, relief case determination and provide required relief mass flow rates and initial sizing of relief valves. Issue process datasheets.

* Verify PSV inlet line sizing based on vendor data for purchased valves and final piping isometrics. Verify PSV discharge line size based on final piping isometrics of the relief collection header and the flare distribution network

* Define and review process control philosophy and ensure conformance to operating requirements.

* Determine location of sample points and develop sample point details.

* Process Systems Engineering of various process changes originated by Operations or CTS groups. This involves P&ID mark-up with proper line specification, Line Designation Tables revision and preparation of Equipment & Instrument datasheets, Cause & Effect diagrams.

* Hydraulic checks, line sizing, two phase flow calculation, PSV adequacy check.

* Working on INPLANT, Pipe-net software used for Network analysis and hydraulic calculation.

* Familiar on HTRI software used for Exchanger thermal designing/Simulation.

* Familiar on PPS software, Proprietary software used by Bechtel for LDT and Pressure profile / hydraulic circuit generation.

* Pump/Compressor adequacy checks & NPSH calculation.

* Sizing of Process Vessels, Control Valves and PSVs.

* Prepare/review specifications for various modification of existing system to improve productivity & reduce consumption.
