Client: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Bhopal

Details: The complete power network which involve about 22 132kV stations, 30 33kV stations, 132kV lines of length 1500kM, 9 power stations consisting of about 25 units of sizes ranging from 15MW & 52MW, 100 Power transformers have been modeled. Performed load flow and short circuit studies. Detailed protection models for various areas in Power network have been developed. These models involved the 132kV Stations, 132kV overhead lines, 33kV station, 33kV Overhead lines, 6.6kV switchboards, 415V switchboards, motors, transformers, relays, fuses, releases with different voltage and current ratings of various manufacturers such as GEC/ALSTOM/AREVA, SIEMENS, ABB, FUJI, VATECH have been modeled completely. Relay co-ordination curves along with equipment withstand curves such motor, transformer, overhead line withstand curves have been plotted using PDC module of EDSA.

Details:

Bhakra Beas Management Board has a installed capacity of 2866.30 MW, the largest base of Hydro Power in India with a high plant load factor. BBMB maintains the largest reservoirs in India such as Bhakra and Pong dams and also operates long Hydro tunnels and Hydel channels. It comprises of 28 generating units and 6 Power houses covering 7 beneficiary states in India.

BBMB transmitts power in the Northern Grid through a wide network of 3735 Km of 400 KV, 220 KV, 132 KV, 66 KV, 33 KV and 11 KV transmission lines

Performed Modelling of BBMB power network and cariied out load flow and fault analysis on electrical power transmission system. Accomplished system studies, voltage profiles and system losses and computation of additional shunt compensations required in the network.

RPL would like to install 2 new Centrifugal Water Injection pumps of capacity 3000kW and 3600kW at Jamnagar. RPL also contemplated for installation of following HESP's in case Water Injection pump option is not adopted. (a) Two 260kW HESP's ( relocated) (b) One 260kW, one 335kW ( relocated) & one 450kW HESP's ( relocated) (c) Three 1045kW HESP's. ( new, proposed). Motor starting study was carried out to establish the motor parameters and motor starting method, OHL required for the Water injection pumps. Various starting methods such as capacitor start, soft start, DOL start has been considered The starting of existing large 4500kW Booster pumps are also studied.

Details: Grounding System Design

BHEL intended to provide sea water for cooling purpose to its client in phases. Hence it intended to develop a new 220kV GIS substation along with necessary support systems. Grounding design calculations are carried out for the above project EDSA using measured resistivity values from site. Two layer soil models are developed to closely model the 220kV GIS building and designed the grounding system.
