An integrity management engineer of over 18 years of experience for offshore/marine systems with world leading expertise.
Overview o Formally qualified as project manager in Amey Vectra. Managed a number of projects for Vectra (2000 -2003) and ABS Consulting (2004-2006). Managed a number of structural subprojects for AMEC (1990 ¡V 1999).
o Expert on fatigue, fracture, structural risk and life extension of offshore platforms o Revision of BS 7910 which is used worldwide for assessing and design against defects in metallic structures such as offshore structure, pipelines, pressure vessel, ships and buildings o Doctorate on structural reliability (1989)
o Pioneering work of probabilistic explosion for Brent (1994). Conducted a number of explosion/blast resistance studies including work for River fields onshore facility, and recently an innovative blast wall using sandwich panel o Fire risk analysis and PFP optimisation for Armada platform (1995), shearwater (1997), white rose FPSO (2002)
o Key technical input for a number of Safety Cases such as LNG tank with defect for CPC, a number of fire and explosion studies.
o Use of bow tie method and THESIS software with ABSC for safety cases o Risk based inspection for Brent, Zarfiro producer FPSO, and Shan Denis gas platform o Risk and availability study for Connay's Quay power station, especially in providing quantitative evidence on low failure probability of the pipe and drums in the plant o Worked as main designer and specialist for dynamic sensitive system in AMEC such as flare tower, jacket and FPSO and involved in most of the AMEC designed offshore platforms in the 1990s o Leading researcher with EU (structural reliability), HSE (structural integrity), and worldwide oil companies (FPSO corrosion integrity) as sponsors.

* Create a database for maintenance/inspection optimisation
* Responsible for setting up the reliability based maintenance methodology for all four Brent platforms undergoing revamping. Wrote programs for both deterministic fatigue/fracture assessment and reliability assessment. Also wrote specifications for database for reliability inspection updating.
* Created one of the first methods in the industry to assess the reliability of structures under blast loading for Brent Development in 1992.
* Created a method probabilistic method for calculating over pressure probability under gas explosion.

Structural Design and Assessment between 1991- 2003
* Main designer or technical consultant for most design projects for AMEC Process Energy between 1991 & 1999, including EAST Brae, Nelson, Tiffany, Excalibur, Dunbar, Brent Platforms, Armada, Shearwater and Curlew FPSO.
* Technical consultant for the re-assessment of deck structures in the Brent platforms using BS 5400. Project spanned between 1990-1995.
* Crane design and analysis for Dunbar and Armada topsides, 1993 to 1996. The design involved analysis of the operational scheme, material selection and loading analysis, including fatigue and other effects.
* Specialist structural designer for structures such as flare boom, vent tower, machinery or FPSO structure susceptible to wind, wave, blast and machinery vibration for various AMEC projects.
Fatigue Prediction from Wind or Waves
* Between 1990 and 1998, I created a new methodology for calculating fatigue damage under wind and wave loading and applied in a number of design and assessment projects. This methodology was transformed to software for use by all AMEC projects for structures including flare towers, vent towers, cranes and offshore wind turbine in wind-power farms.
